Panionios FC announce Diadora deal

Posted on July 11th, 2008 in Greece by reddevilrooney

Panionios is a Greek club playing in the Super League Greece, which is the top tier of Greek football. They are nicknamed the Blue-Reds, due to their traditional home kits. Last season, the team ranked in the 5th place in the domestic league, meaning qualification for the European play-off, which is a system in the Greek league whereby the teams ranked 2nd to 5th compete in a home&away group to decide their fate in Europe. Panionios ranked last in the group (4th) and thus qualified for the Intertoto Cup Second Round. It was drawn against OFK Beograd from Serbia with the matches being played on 5/6 July and 12/13 July. The first leg was lost by 1-0, and Panionios will have to overturn this result to progress in this competition.

The deal with Italian sportswear company Diadora will provide Ewald Lienen (54 year old German manager) and his squad the best football equipment to stand out in Greece and in Europe. The deal was negotiated through Athletiki SA which are the exclusive distributors of Diadora in Greece. The kits to be supplied will be eye-catching and will have high-quality material and technical specifications, which are typical of the Italy-based manufacturer.

P.S. The kits shown in the picture above are training kits, not the playing kits.
