Official: South Korea 2014 World Cup Nike Away Kit

One of the last teams to reveal their away kit, South Korea have officially launched their new away kit for the 2014 World Cup.

Supplied by Nike, the new South Korea away kit reveals a design rich in national pride combined with the best in performance innovation. The new away shirt is predominantly white and features the Taegeuk, the yin and yang symbol from the Korean national flag. The red and blue colours of the Taegeuk appears the the top of the sleeves while the collar is inspired by Asian influences and draws a comparison to Korean classic attire.

The colour blue is featured on the right sleeve while red is featured on the left sleeve. The unique collar also features red and blue piping further drawing inspiration on the Taegeuk. Inside the back of the neck features a pennant tab boasting a Tuhon symbol which relates to traditional Korean calligraphy and translates as “Fighting Spirit” representing the inherent qualities of Korean football.

Korean National Team midfielder, Chung Yong Lee said, “The clean and crisp white kit, with highlights of red and blue, is visually stunning. Coupled with performance innovations that cool the body, this kit will play an important role for us in the heat and humidity of Brazil this summer.”

The white away shirt is complemented with white shorts and socks while the kit uses Nike’s most advanced cooling technology dubbed Dri-Fit.

Nike Football Global Creative Director, Martin Lotti said, “This kit possesses both revolutionary performance benefits, and a strong sense of celebrating the country.”

This is the last kit by Nike to be launched for the World Cup in June this year. Korea Republic play Belgium, Algeria and Russia in the group stage of the 2014 World Cup. The are likely to wear their away kit against Russia on the 18th of June in the World Cup group stage.
