Official: England 2010/12 Away Shirt Unveiled
After quite a long wait, we have official confirmation from Umbro about the new away shirt that the English team will wear for the upcoming World Cup and for the qualifying stage of Euro 2012. The shirt matches the theme of the home shirt, where Umbro decided to give the English shirt a touch of retro and keep it as simple as possible on the outside, with extensive research in the development of the shirt. Umbro has supplied Fabio Capello’s World Cup team with a world class shirt. Despite all the criticism it may receive now, the shirt will certainly become very popular as the World Cup gets nearer, and true England fans will be hoping that the team can repeat the success of 1966 with this similar shirt. A World Cup group can never be easy, and the opponents will do everything within their power to stop Capello’s men from winning. England will start their World Cup campaign with a match against the United States on the 12th June, followed by matches against Algeria (18 June) and Slovenia (23 June).

The new red shirt will have white cuffs and a red star above the English FA crest to commemorate the only time England won the World Cup in 1966. Providing comfort and perfect fit were the objectives of Umbro, not only for England’s players, but also for the supporters who will wear this shirt. The shirt is not available in the conventional sizes such as Small, Medium, Large, XL and XXL, but will be available according to the chest size, ranging from 34 inch to 58 inch chest with increments of 2 inches. The away shorts which will accompany this shirt will be white, with a red stripe on each side. Both the Umbro logo and the England crest will be red on the shorts. The socks will be red with a white part around the foot.
While many other nations have equally eye-catching, or even better as some might think, shirts than the England national team, the English fans can be proud that their shirt was manufactured and supplied by Umbro, which is an English brand. Even in the marketing campaign of the new shirt, the English element of Umbro was evident in the extra effort they made to supply their home team with an excellent shirt. In the unveiling of the shirt by English indie rock band Kasabian in Paris, Umbro intended to show what it means being an Englishman abroad, and shine a light on the true identity of a modern Englishman, and the global cultural impact in several aspects of life emerging from England. One of these exported influences is music, and that is why it was chosen for the unveiling by Umbro. Music has made England proud of its citizens representing it in foreign countries across the globe. Umbro, as do all the England supporters, hope that this pride of being English is felt next summer in South Africa. The English national team will be away from England, but they will be carrying England with them in a very special place: their heart. And they will be showing the world that England is the best at football in this new red away shirt, ‘tailored by Umbro, worn by England’.
The shirt will be available to purchase from the 3rd March, through our partners Kitbag.
We want to take this opportunity to publicly thank Umbro for involving us in the unveiling of this new shirt, and for keeping us posted about the latest news.

Simply classic! I wish all football kits were as sophisticated as this one.
“How difficult it is to be simple.” – Vincent van Gogue
english company? sorry they are owned by nike the us sportswear giant, also i never read the full article before my comment, but it looks very much like the arms are a totally different shade of red than the body, anyone else notice cos it was the 1st thing that caught my eye
@ joebhoy
Yes, in fact they are owned by Nike which is an American company, but that doesn’t make Umbro American. Does the fact that Liverpool and Manchester United are owned by American owners make the two teams American? Or does the ownership of Chelsea by Abramovich make Chelsea Russian? Umbro was, and still is, an English brand.
By the look of it, from pictures we have until now, it seems that the tone of the sleeves is slightly different, but we will have to wait for more pictures to be able to tell for sure.
They should try out nike for a sense of kits
NICE! And I love how they have hidden the star by making it red also. Perhaps someday those lame stars won’t be used on any kits.
joebhoy, google globalization…
anyway, very nice kit….
Marketing guff,
World Cup hype,
‘We’re gonna win it’,
What a load of tripe
Despite corporate bull***,
It’s classic kit,
Yes, the bees knees,
Not some psychedelic wheeze
In red like Hurst and Peters
Oh, who can defeat us!
Then they go, spoil it
By using Kasabian…
Er, Er-er-er-er…
This is the nicest England kit for a while although that’s not saying much. Not quite sure why the two badges are different. I’m looking forward to the “tailoring” for the bloke who buys the 58″ chest version.
Looks like the away kit from the last world cup but without the george flag on the shoulder. Nothing really inspiring really.about this. Not gonna be wasting £45 on this thats for sure
Does anyone know how similar this is to the shirt that was leaked (& quickly withdrawn by Umbro) a short time ago?
Such a classy kit. The material quality look superb as well as the simple retro design. The collar and white cuffs add an extra design style and I bet the fit is so good.
Big thumbs up Umbro!
Hmmm, Dave-75, ya think? Best away shirt in 20 years, a logical extention of their retro range…
I could make the same thing with a red T-shirt and a large black marker. What a joke, Umbro can go do sod all IMO.
If you want simple and clean, look at Man City’s home. That’s simple and clean, but atleast it has different colors. A long-sleeved red T-shirt is nothing simple, new, original, or classic. And to think they’ll charge 50 pounds for this **** is a load of bull****.
its alright to be honest
the shorts and socks are the ****.
but im still not sure about the shirt. sometimes i look at it, and i love it. other times, i hate it.
i love umbro’s classic & retro designs, and they’re english. so anyone slating umbro has no sense of style. i hope they don’t lose their brand to nike completely, would be a great shame.
also seem to think that the shirt would look better without the umbro logo or the umbro logo in red also?
my previous comment, the shorts and socks are the t * ts.
stunning, classic, beautiful
“success of 66″?! nah, the refs are a bit better nowadays! with the exception of graham poll of course!
I don’t like the sleeves.Very nice shorts and socks.I think for the home shirt they need a dark blue short because now they have 2 white shorts
Pablo5, Have you seen the new Brazil shirt suppiled by Nike, if you think thats stylish you’re blind. This shirt is quality, the best shirt I’ve seen for ages.
*I mean ‘supplied’
MINT !! SIMPLE CLASSIC STYLE, SHOULD MAKE THE WHITE HOME KIT THE SAME !!!!!!!
