Nigeria reject the new Adidas Home Shirt design
Quite a surprising news is the declaration by the Marketing Head of the Nigerian Football Federation saying that the current shirt being sold worldwide as the one in which the country’s national football team will play matches in the 2010 World Cup has been rejected. Idris Adama stated that the new shirt design has not yet been approved, and a decision should be made before the African Cup of Nations to be held in Angola. The shirt manufacturers are Adidas and the new shirt being sold through retailers, which was even on display at the group stage draw for next summer’s World Cup, will not be the one worn by the Nigerian squad for the upcoming important football events.

The shirt was heavily criticised for being generic, off-the-shelf and not creative by football shirts fans, especially Nigerian supporters. It seems that an online petition spurred the Nigerian Football Federation to seek a different design from the German sportswear brand. We are still waiting for updates about the new Nigerian shirt design.
Idris Adama’s comment was:
“We have not finalised anything about our new jerseys. We are looking at some designs with Adidas, but we havent signed off on anything yet.”

GOOD NEWS… and looking forward to another shirt with better design.
Quite a boring shirt really.
Hope puma will take Nigeria
Poor shirt, bet that hurt adidas’ pride. agree with ajay, puma would make a good Nigeria shirt, the Senegal, Ghana one’s have always been nice.
Beko Olikoye Rejected hated it when they left his number off his shirt.
Good move tbh. Adidas have been getting away with very poor efforts lately.
Good for them – I like simple but that was a joke. Now if they could only reject that vile corrupt Gov’t of theirs.
