Nigeria Home Shirt 2009/10

Posted on November 13th, 2009 in Nigeria by reddevilrooney

The Nigerian national football association has unveiled its new shirt that may possibly be worn for the upcoming World Cup. As at the 13th November, the Nigerian squad has not yet qualified for the World Cup, but they will qualify from the African Qualifiers Group B should they win their last group-stage match against Kenya given that current group leaders Tunisia do not defeat Mozambique. In its history dating back to 1949, Nigeria won two African Cups of Nations and have qualified for three World Cups, not including the possibility of qualifying for South Africa 2010.

The shirt of Nigeria is manufactured by sportwear giants Adidas, whose trademark stripes appear on the shoulders and sleeves as they do on all shirts manufactured by the brand. The colour used for the Nigerian home shirt is called twilight green. The stripes of Adidas are white, and there are sewn details in white on the sleeves and on the sides. The shirt has a crew neck collar which is the same colour as the body, and at the back of the neck, there is the text NIGERIA printed in white. Should the team miss the big event of next summer, it will still feature in the second-best competition for the African region which is the African Cup of Nations to be held in Angola between the 10th and 31st January of 2010.
