Newcastle 2008/09 away shirt
Newcastle United striker Michael Owen is pictured below revealing The Magpies’ new all blue away kit, which maintains the sponsorship agreement with troubled bank Northern Rock.
Featuring the manufacturers logo and the club crest in the middle of the shirt, the kit is all blue with the three-stripe trim of adidas. The club’s new goalkeeper kit will be a similar design to the away shirt but in yellow with black trim, and last year’s black and white home shirt will be retained for a second season.

Not really blue…more purple or violet. I’d like to see another blue and red striped shirt like 95. Or maybe a green again. Been a long time since an away green for them.

love it they are sponsored by a bank that had to be taken over by the gov’t… hope you guys don’t have a problem paying 40 for a kit that you’re sponsoring with your taxes.
i think nufc should make a black and gold kit… maybe next year with our new sponsor carling might do it… when is the 3rd kit out and what colour is it?

It’s good, but not as good as some of the recent away kits they’ve had.

Not a bad shirt I suppose. It would be good to see Owen back to his full potential but he’s not gonna get that playing for the Geordies. He is being held back. He should sign for a bigger club, Celtic or Sunderland for instance.
sunderland AFC you say that we cant think of our own colours theres very few teams that wear purple plus i wonder what idea sunderland had when they thought of there new away shirt you know blue and black stripes they didnt happen to copy inter milan by any chance

newcastle top is an all time great and it finally changes the seen off them having a different kind of top which alllows them to stand out from the crowd when they come to be all the teams in the premership do you know what this is called divosion for me club i believe that we can win a trophy this year premership, FA cup and the Carling cup come on Newcastle you can do it lads we will pull throught
If Northern Rock is now a federal bank and as somebody mentioned the government is covering the loss in revenue to the club then technically is the state, and thus indirectly the taxpayer now sponsoring Newcastle United?
As a graphic designer I like the adidas logo on top of the NUFC logo. The colour makes it almost royal.
Dislikes: the stupid placement of the adidas logo on the shorts. And Owen looks like a midget with such huge shorts. Ajax players (Gabri amongst them) are finally complaining about the oversized shorts. And the dropdead striping is awkward…..propably it has got to do with the badges
