New Sheffield United Shirt Unveiled

Posted on April 27th, 2008 in Sheffield United by Danny Hall

Sheffield United have released images of the kit that will be worn in 2008/09 - possibly in the Premier League if the Blades manage to make a return to the top flight at the first attempt.

The shirt, designed after a suggestion from a supporter, features thicker red stripes and a solid back, so player’s names and squad numbers can be seen easier. The shirt also features the kit maker’s logos, Le Coq Sportif, on both arms.

The away shirt is all black with silver trim, and so throws up a potential problem as to what United will wear when they play away and the home side plays in black shorts and socks. Currently, the away shirt (which is traditionally retained as the rarely-used ‘3rd shirt’) is flourescent green, but still features black shorts and socks.

Doesn’t seem to be fake, here’s the news from the most credible source:

The kit on the site doesn’t feature the LCS logos on the chest and the shoulders, but since it was made by a fan this could easily be the suggestion from which the kit was made.

It’s horrible, they look more like smudges than stripes! That collar is ugly and I hate solid backs on striped or hooped shirts.

The 1st one is fake I mocked it up using the adidas template to show united fans how badly LCS have copied.

Hence the tiny asc under the shirt
