The official launch is not until tomorrow but here’s a sneak preview of the Scotland home kit manufactured by Diadora for 2008/10 including the World Cup Qualifiers for 2010.
i am a fan of scotland but i have to admit that is one ugly shirt
pompeypete:
Could be better..but at least its clean…alot better than the all blue gold infused **** that was the last one. I like the return to a plain shirt and the traditional colours.
Shame about the diadora logos on the sleeve…ruins it a bit. Its the same with the pompey shirt…massive ugly canterbury logos on the sleeve. Where’s it gonna end? Will every shirt look like its come out of the french league?
allan:
I like it. I mean, it is an old template, but it’s absolutely perfect for a Scotland shirt. A Scotland shirt traditionally should be plain dark blue with white flashes. This is how a Scotland shirt should look.
81Ross:
Using templates that have been around for a while is something Diadora are prone to but I have to admit I quite like this. It’ll certainly be popular among the traditionalists in the Scotland support.
john:
Ugly shirt
Don McKay:
Disappointing.
No flair to it at all!
I wish they’d go back to Umbro!!!
alan:
i like the traditional look, but it would be a million times without the stupid badge and just the old style crest, as usual the little details mess it up, much like the last ones three lined-st andrews cross
FRAZER CLARK:
like it. good follow on fromthe current strip. basic but traditional. ; )
allan:
better picture here
Mr. Ron Death:
Not bad but I would make these changes :
(1) Put the Diadora logo above the Diadora name on the shirt chest and make the Diadora name smaller.
(2) Make the Scottish FA badge larger and take out the St. Andrews cross underneath it
(3) Replace the Diadora logo on the sleeves with the St. Andrews cross.
(4) Take out the white ‘collar’ effect and use a simple white ‘V’ collar.
What do you think?
Dave:
AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Deacon Valkeanu:
Mr. Ron Death
I agree with changes 1, 2 and 3. But change 4 would make the shirt even simpler and boring (for me, at least). I liked these collar and think it makes the shirt fancier. But, even if we could ask Diadora to take it out, they wouldn’t make it because it is their “visual signature” (I’m brazilian and teams whose shirts are manufactured by Diadora over here also have this collar design)
.:
yeah maybe.
Joe G MCFC:
Mr. Ron Death im english and agree with 1 and 2 but the st andrews cross is like what the st george flag is to england -it should be there you should be proud of your country and 4 yes plain shirts are top
Jack:
Hate it, it looks really old, i like the old one better
Ben:
Very nice shirt !
cool stuff to have the FA Logo + the Countries Flag on it, even the mockup collar looks good.
Great stuff from Diadorra
Augustus:
High time our friends in the north had a traditional shirt. There have been a few too many weird but not wonderful Scots shirts in the last decade or so. This is a nice simple back to basics look that suits them well. Red socks would give it the full Archie Gemmill treatment. The Scots traditional kit is a thing of beauty, every bit as iconic as Brazil, Argentina, or, yes, even…
England.
frazer clark:
is that a collar or is it a different coloured part of the main body?
magoose:
i like it, 1st time in ages we are back to basics
newcastle utd Gavin McElroy:
very nice
jambos:
like the return to red socks
wayne:
Im as impressed as paul hartley on this one.
I agree I like the return to the red socks but i dont understand why they couldn’t have given it a real collar instead of a drawn on one? diadora suck!.
CW:
Don’t like it. Terrible white flashes around the collar spoil it along with the current badge which is cheap looking. As said above bring back the old round badge and get Umbro back.
D King:
Ron Death, spot on.
FAO Mr Ron Death:
The St. Andrews croos is part of the badge
*duh*
Dazzler 82:
Its kinda plain lookin… but am luvin the return of the red socks ive always loved the classic kits and for once this is a good backward step for the scotland team.
Kev:
Never liked any of the Diadorra shirts before now and nothing changes with the new one. Should go back to Umbro and also the old badge design as in 1982. The only thing that is good about it is the fact that it is simple however the Diadorra name is too large. However no doubt I will buy this shirt as I have with all the previous ones and I am sure it will be the best shirt at the next World Cup finals!!
pj:
i really like the socks, the top lacks flair, the diadora badge on the sleeve looks shite. overall its a poor effort by the sfa but if it gets us to the world cup 2010 then who gives a ****
Mr. Ron Death:
“FAO Mr Ron Death said,
The St. Andrews croos is part of the badge
*duh*”
I’m suggesting that you only need to see the red lion on the yellow shield and the word ‘SCOTLAND’ written above it to recognise it as a Scotland shirt! The think the St. Andrew’s Cross is a relatively recent addition to the shirt and that it looks stronger on the sleeves.
Stuart:
That is the worst Scotland shirt I have seen in years!
and it will be the first I will not buy in 30 years!
will buy a retro shirt and wear that instead!
HT:
Like the plain dark blue but i agree with many other posters and wish they would go back to umbro and not make it so tight fitting we are fans not athletes!!!
the shirt is shite!!!:
This shirt is shite!!!!
too boring!!
Steven:
I agree with everything Mr. Ron Death said;
The saltire should be on both sleeves and lion rampant on the back of the neck, like where the st andrews cross is on the rangers shirt i think this would make it look very neat.
Socks would be better with a bit of writing somewhere on the either saying ‘Scotland’ or ‘SFA’ or even ‘DIADORA’ they look rather plain.
All rond a nice STRIP and will be one i will certainly be getting as soon as it comes out tomorrow.
chris:
The new Jock away shirt is yellow. The right colour for them.
m.scott:
Dont like the crest at the side but it does look proper retro and the socks look more like the old scotland colours so I like it!!!!!!!!!!!
Jim:
Anyone realise that we only qualify for the world cup when we have red socks?
jack carter:
go back to umbro, and bring back the tartan kit,end off.
tigerpete:
Its not that the Scotland shirts have ever been any good. Its orite i suppose
Scottish lad:
My first opinion as soon as i seen it was … ugly… and yes im a fan of the original old strips though i think the 06-08 one was alot better, the more i look at the strip the more i like i though don’t think ill be buying it.
Deacon Valkeanu:
Umbro are just as bad as Diadora, but I suppose they are a British make. Surridge is the way to go!
Bon:
Looks like a school football team’s kit.
I would like a shirt using the St Andrew’s cross on the shoulders.
hum this is the old diadora template. very poor.
i am a fan of scotland but i have to admit that is one ugly shirt
