New Derry City Away Shirts
On Thursday 3rd April, Northern Irish club Derry City, founded in 1928, and that plays in the FAI League of Ireland, has launched its new away kit for the 2008/09 season. The club is also known as the Candystripes, given that their shirts are generally striped. The red-and-white striped home shirt was launched some time ago. The away shirt is also striped.
The shirt manufacturers are O’Neill and they are sponsored by major Northern Ireland electrical wholesalers Meteorelectrical.com. Modelled by defender Sean Hargan and forward Sam Morrow, the away shirt features white and light blue stripes. It has a white collar and the sleeves are also striped in white and light blue. As can be seen from the picture, the new away kit is very similar to the Argentina home shirt. This is not the first time that the Candystripes have presented away kits that are very similar to the Argentine shirts. The club is remembering the golden 1988/89 season, when a similar shirt was launched. In this season, the Northern Irish club won the domestic treble, and the club is hoping to have the same feat this season.
