Posted on July 7th, 2008 in Aston Villa by andrewtaylor

The new Aston Villa home shirt has been unveiled today at Brindley Place in Birmingham. The home shirt as seen in previews retains the claret shirt, light blue sleeve tradition and has a v-neck collar.

The shirt is sponsored by local charity Acorns in a landmark Premier League deal.

Both shirts are very nice and I will be buying both. And to the idiot who said we play boring, how come we were 3rd top scorers in the Premier League last season?

Both shirts are great, especially the home shirt which retains all of the traditions of how an Aston Villa shirt should look.

One thing is for sure, I bet that the majority of Arsenal fans would be happier with the style of Villas new home shirt then they one that they have been subjected to this forthcoming season. Apart from the obvious difference in colours, they should both have similar designs. The great thing about traditional Villa and Arsenal shirts is their simplicity.

Looks better on the players than it did in the leaked photo. Away kit is good too.

What did “h2 (from Steps?) mean about the “fake claret and blue team” though? Who’s the real one?

  16. Nico_AVFC said,

in the leaked pictures the shirt looked terrible but seeing it on a player makes me change my mind!! its alright..

the home shirt aint the worst, could have done somethin better with the sponsor though, doesn’t reflect well on acorns lol
the away shirt is better though, goin back to the Reebok, LDV vans days
and whoever mac is, the one who said we are boring, obviously hasn’t been watchin the games this year, and is probably either a dirty blue nose or supports united or is Gareth Barry

they both alright, but theyre not very clear, i was hoping for a picture of them actually wearing them clearly

  21. svilla said,

I’m liking them, looking forward to seeing Carew and Young celebrating in front of the Holte end after beating West Brom and Chelsea (AGAIN) Ground breaking sponsors (Shouldnt even be calling them sponsors) so who actually cares that the kit is not the best out there.

mac dunno what your on about but Aston Villa play quality football and score lots of goals, they were 3rd top goal scorers with 71 goals only behind Man United and Arsenal. The kits are pretty nice, kinda hard to beat last seasons though thought they were mint.

Nice shirt, so last season’s shirt doesn’t survive beyond 1 season - like villa’s european ambitions
