Middle-Eastern firms looking to sponsor Tottenham
Arab online newspaper ArabianBusiness.com has reported that Tottenham are currently looking for their next shirt sponsor in the Middle-Eastern region. The Spurs’ current big-money deal with betting firm Mansion is set to expire at the end of the 2009/10 season, with the possibility of renewal looking highly improbable. The options in the Premier League for super-rich firms in this region have become limited as new deals were agreed by Manchester United, Liverpool, and Manchester City, while it seems Chelsea and Arsenal do not want to put aside their partnership with Samsung and Fly Emirates respectively. Tottenham classifies as the best English club which is yet to agree a shirt sponsorship.

The paper also states that it will not be just a shirt sponsorship agreement from the oil-rich region. It seems that there are plans to finance a new stadium in London and name it after a sponsor. The new stadium should accomodate 58000 fans: much more than the current 36000 capacity of White Hart Lane. Tottenham hope to move into the new stadium by the 2012/13 season. The executive director of Tottenham, Paul Barber, reportedly said that the Londoners are currently in talks with 4 big companies from Dubai, and other companies in Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Bahrain.
