Manchester United Sign Seven-Year Shirt Sponsorship Deal with Chevrolet
Manchester United, which was recently named the most popular football club in the world with 659,000,000 supporters, has announced a new 7-year shirt sponsorship agreement which will come into force as from the 2014/15 season and run until 2020/21. The new shirt sponsor will be car manufacturer Chevrolet, which is presently the official car partner of the club. It will replace AON when its contract with the club expires at the end of the 2013/14 season. Chevrolet will be the fifth shirt sponsor to adorn the club’s kits in United’s 134 year history.
Chevrolet have only been official shirt partners of the club for 6 weeks before signing this long-term contract. Richard Arnold, Commercial Director of Manchester United, said that it is a “fantastic, long-term deal for the Club”. The brand was instrumental alongside DHL in the success of the sell-out tours to South Africa, China and Europe before the 2012/13 season kicks off. The amount that Chevrolet will pay United for shirt sponsorship was not disclosed, but it is understood that it surpasses the £20 million per year being received from AON.
Regarding the deal, the Vice President of General Motors North America, Alan Batey, commented:
“We are extremely proud to connect our brand, Chevrolet, with Manchester United and its passionate supporters all around the world. Manchester United’s statistics are impressive, but this relationship goes far beyond the numbers – this relationship is about connecting our brand with the deep-seated emotion that surrounds the team everywhere it goes.”
“When you consider the core values of Chevrolet, our passionate customers around the world, and our rich 100 year history, the partnership with Manchester United is a perfect fit. And, to be only the fifth name on the iconic red jersey is a genuine honour. We very much look forward to the road ahead and the opportunities we have in partnering with such a legendary club.”

Well this’ll be bad…
holy shiit!! id they’re goin to use the logo exactly like this it’ll be awful!!
If the logo is solid gold, it’ll look horrid. If they just use a white outline, it might just be alright . . .
wow this is horrible news. Man U is starting to make horrible choices. this is a bad day
Horrible news? Bad choices? Personally, I think all the sponsors United have had since Sharp look awful on the shirts. This might be no improvement aesthetically but I’m sure the $600 million will soften the blow somewhat.
RooneyFan: How the hell Are Man U making bad choices? ‘It’ll surpass the £20m per year being received by AON’. For that money I don’t think thet’d care if they had a giant dog **** on their shirts. P.S this comment is coming from somebody who detests Man Utd (me) to a Man U fan.
HAHAHAAAAAAA. Sucks for them.
Interestingly Chevrolet are also the “official automotive partner” for Liverpool

I really hope that they just use the text and not that horrible logo. It will ruin every shirt for seven years.
For gods sake, who cares what it looks like as long as it brings cash into the club
think the text in white would look ok but not a fan of the logo. guess we’ll have to wait a while to see what it looks like, can’t remember another shirt sponsorship deal announced 2 seasons before it starts!!
always a outcry after we got used to SHARP then we all hated Aon but now used to it im sure same will happen to this sponsor,
feel British football since 1990 has slowly moved its heritage to U.S.A. soccer sadly to say
i think they’ll just use the word chevrolet
cheap crappy car for the yankee team . another sell out .
If it’s a 3D design similar to what Fiorentina have with Mazda, their kits will look terrible. This is good, because I hate ManU.
dont mind chevrolet much better than aon at least its no ETHIAD
