Limited Edition: West Ham United-Katy Perry Kit
A unique outfit worn by Katy Perry at the MTV Europe Music Awards on November 5th resulted in West Ham United launching a limited edition of this outfit for its fans. So what could be this unique outfit and why on earth was Katy Perry wearing a West Ham United outfit at the Music Awards?
Katy Perry is currently dating Russell Brand, a Hammers supporter and together with Siobhan Dillon, costume designer, Perry adorned a claret and blue outfit made from three West Ham replica home shirts. Perry’s basque featured two club crests with her hot pants featuring ‘Rusty’, after her boyfriend.
Costume Designer Dillon said “I thought it would be cool to try and make the shirt as football-oriented as possible.”
“So, I used the collars along the top of the brassiere and used the two badges on the front. I had a team of three girls working with me on the outfit. It was made entirely from the three shirts, but we had to take the Airtex out and replace it with some lining.”
The club is set to produce a limited edition of this outfit with 50 being the initial manufactured stock which will be sold through the club stores. The club said they will cost £300 each and they will only be available on pre-order.
