The Actual England Nike ’150th Anniversary’ Shirt

England’s last match against Brazil was their last ‘Umbro fixture’ as they will soon be launching the new Nike shirts. Here at Football Shirts UK, after all the wrong leaks on all sorts of sites & newspapers, we’ve managed to be the first to get you some leaked pictures of the actual shirt.

As for the new home shirt, England will have a primarily white shirt with a blue round collar. The Nike swoosh logo is in blue on the top right part of the chest whilst the England FA badge is on the opposite (note also the 150th anniversary mark underneath the badge).

The new away shirt looks amazing and we’ll post that up shortly, so stay tuned to the website or via twitter or facebook and we’ll share that soon!

  1. Gabriel:

    Umbro is better…

  2. Bob Clancey:

Very ‘USA away shirt’ in appearance. Guess the absence of the Umbro diamond makes it look less like an official England national team shirt. Leaked pics seldom do the shirts justice though, I reckon it’s gonna look pretty smart.

  3. Darren masterman:

Bit plain but no always a bad thing need to see it in full, but I like the USA top so comments are a bit redundant where I’m concerned

  4. Marvin the Paranoid Android:

That’s really really really disappointing. The badge doesn’t appear to be embroidered as nicely as Umbro used to do it, the goldd looks quite tacky, there’s not enough red, the material looks like the nasty stuff Nike always use rather than the nice cottony stuff Umbro had, and having what is essentially a Budwiser logo under the badge is just shameless.

    Very poor, 2/10.

I hope it’s fake / I want Umbro back. (Yes I’m that aware whining will make absolutely no difference.)

  5. rooney is soooo ugly:

looks naff , hard to tell for sure

  6. tonesterwolf:

might just be ok with a return to the traditional blue shorts, have seen the away also and impressed that its back to red with the badge all in gold to match the 150 years writing underneath!!

  7. Bren333:

Oh well, the golden age is over.

England will finally be back in the kind of dull, frumpy outfits more suited to their brand of football.

And please tell me, how on Earth can a red Nike shirt ever be amazing?

  8. Augustus:

Too early to tell from that image. With plain navy shorts, plain white socks and a red number it might be a minor classic. Generally speaking the closer an England kit gets to the ’66 model the better it is.

I’ll miss Umbro, but they gave us some real dogs dinners for England kits as well as a few gems.

  9. hellasleaf:

wow, so far beneath what Umbro was doing. astonishing. England and more importantly Man City have just fallen from the best kits into the rest of the heap.

  10. Greg:

Looks almost as uninspiring as the Euro 2000 kit. Time will tell though

  11. DA77EN:

Pants is a big understatement !!!!!!

  12. yorkshireimp:

If it is the new shirt then I am really disappointed. No doubt we shall be seeing another set of shirts for the World Cup (if we qualify) next year.

The FA has sold its soul.

  13. N7 Bluebird:

Thats a really boring looking shirt!

  14. wesman77:

It looks like the same template as the leaked Man City shirt!

  15. ShouldHaveGoneBackToAdmiral:

Wow, amazing! I was expecting the same template as the leaked Manchester City home shirt but this is in NO WAY similar to that!

  16. swfcAH:

White shirt Blue Shorts and Red Socks would look pretty good although the style of shirt is dull as ditchwater

  17. J -Biscuit:

That ’150 Years’ logo is a complete abomination. I can’t even slightly comprehend how it got approved.

  18. PhilUTD:

Interesting how everyone loved the dull and unimaginative Umbro shirts and hating on this which is exactly the same but with a Nike swoosh. Nike haters much??

  19. matt:

Umbro shirts had class and style, more than just a football shirt. This is just boring and cheap looking, like most Nike shirts, white version of Brazil’s shirt would look better.

  20. PhilUTD:

    Matt #19, you’re a prime example of what I’m talking about . . .

  21. Marvin the Paranoid Android:

PhilUTD #18 & 20, Umbro’s simple kits worked because they were made of nice material, had nicely embroidered badges and generally fitted better than nike’s simple kits. That’s why Umbro’s were good, and this is ****.

  22. Marvin the Paranoid Android:

    Why does it filter c.r.a.p?

  23. Rob:

Personally I liked the recent trend of having red on the shirt instead of blue & having white shorts, but having said that I suppose this is more of a traditional England style. My big complaint with this shirt is the badge. That 150 year banner is really bad & makes the badge look fussy. Why not have it on the arm or the back of the neck?

  24. northernhorn:

At least we have blue on it again.

  25. MCFC2393:

Its okay but i cant judge until full picture is out the crest looks very good you have to admit

Im hoping for navy shorts as thats traditional england colours we dont look right in all white with a bit of red

  26. Vladimir Brown:

If they go for blue shorts, plain white socks and red numbers, I’ll accept that the idea was to start by going back to basics. And then they’ll have my approval.

There shouldn’t be too much mucking about traditional colours. I agree the all white kit, as beautiful as it was, simply wasn’t England.

  27. Mr.Robson:

I just want the navy blue trim and shorts back for the home kit and red for the away

  28. JARKKO:

Nike have always made good, presentable kits for my nation, Slovenia, so do not fear, the article you see in the stores and official photos should do more justice. PhilUTD – I agree with what you say, a lot of people dislike Nike which given some kits is understandable, but give them a chance.

Umbro only really changed their designs and product quality after the Nike takeover, now that they have parted even some of the promotional lines that have come from Umbro now look cheaper.

That said, the FA of England do not help with the Budweiser logo under crest and the gold looks cheap – even if only used here for 150 years.

  29. SkyBluePhoenix:

What worries me is the presence of the 150 anniversary ‘ribbon’ as it is only valid for this year. That probably means we will have a new kit next year with this one only being valid for 9 or so months. Nike seem to replace the kits of the other national teams they sponsor stupidly often, a trend that Umbro also picked up when under Nike ownership. As for the rest of the kit, it looks a bit generic. Umbro may not have had flair but at least each design was unique to England. this just looks like teamwear.

  30. Mitchivic:

Serbia’s shirts change every 2 years and we have nike, so last comment is invalid

  31. MattyPeo-97:

Don’t worry people, the anniversary of the national team is in ten years time, nike have a decade to get things right. Anyone who says it looks like a USA shirt needs to know that this is a traditional England shirt (round neck, navy incorporated into the kit) and recent shirts have been a break from tradition. If anything, the USA shirts are copies of England shirts. I quite like it as Nike’s first attempt, although I’d have liked to have seen a crown on the badge and that diamond design that was displayed at the centre of England’s first shirt. Shame that it’ll be poisonous as it’ll be made of those plastic bottles Nike always go on about.

  32. Danny Wade:

I think it looks quite smart, can’t see what people are complaining about, to be honest!
