Jaap Stam Testimonial Shirt

Posted on July 28th, 2008 in Ajax, Holland by Renato Siviero dos Santos

Hummel created a special shirt for the testimonial match of the defender Jaap Stam:

The shirt is light blue, with some details in a darker blue on the sleeve. The lion detail, in the same darker blue, represents the national shield of Netherlands, and at it’s side there’s the emblem of all teams that Stam have played for.

The lion detail is also on the back of the shirt, but in white. The number is printed in orange, inside a darker blue circle, with the match details on top.

The testimonial match was played yesterday (7/26/08) in the FC Zwolle stadium. The Stam’s Stars Team, the Holland World Cup 98 (which used this shirt) played against Ajax, and the result was 3-3.

A testimonial was supposed to be for a player that gave ten years of service to a club. Jaap gets a “testimonial” playing to 10 clubs incl Holland - works out to a year a club. If he wasn’t dumb enough to write a book slagging off some of his Man U teammates, he probably would have been captain. When you battle with Mr. Ferguson - there is always only one winner. Oh - yes, nice shirt.
