Galatasaray Shirts 2008/09

Posted on July 4th, 2008 in Galatasaray by luckyliam10

Galatasaray have been busy showing off their shirts for the 2008/09 season. The shirts were designed by Adidas.

The Home Shirt is Pictured on the far left. The shirt is Maroon on the left side and Gold on the right side. The sleeves are the reverse to this - gold sleeve on the left side and maroon sleeve on the right side. The traditional Adidas 3 stripes are on the shoulders and sleeves and are maroon on the right side and yellow on the left (Very confusing but looks good).

The collar is V-shaped and features the shirts colours with a Adidas logo below. The club logo is on the left side of the chest with a Turkish symbol on the right side of the chest. The sponsors are located in the middle of the shirt and on both sleeves.

The Galatasaray away shirt is white in colour and has a traditional collar. It features a maroon and gold stripe down the right side of the shirt with the Adidas stripes across the shoulders in maroon. The other features remain the same as the home shirt.

The 3rd shirt for the 2008/09 season follows a similar design to the home shirt but also looks very much different. It has 3 vertical stripes the central one being maroon with the two outer ones being yellow. The sleeves are maroon in colour with gold Adidas stripes. The Adidas is gold in colour with the other features remaining the same as the home shirt.

The Goalkeeper shirt for the 2008/09 season is bright orange in colour most people seem to have caught on with Cech’s idea of really bright shirts. The features are the same as the home shirt but the adidas stripes are black instead of multi colours.

Very ‘busy’ kits, but why have the third so similar to the home?

If that is really a 3rd kit, it’s hardly avoiding a colour clash is it ?! Shorts & socks are different yes, but shirt wise not by much. Is it not possibly a kit for a cup competition ?

  3. Brendan said,

and they need 4 kits because…?

cos’ that orange kit really looks like a GK’s kit don’t it, i say we go back to the ninetees and have some eccentric goalkeeping tops. Jorge Campos, u were a genius.

I reckon that the 3rd Kit is the champs league shirt – maybe thats what UC means in Turkish?

The Third kit is obviously just a scheme to rip off their fans. What is the point of having a third kit in the same colours as their home shirt. Even the home & away shorts & socks are the same so they will have to mix the away kit with the third for some games. POINTLESS!!!

I don’t really get the first and thrid kit…….there the same…..

Firstly, “uc” means three in Turkish so that is certainly the third kit. Secondly, the third kit is similar to the first because they represent the team colour. The main reason for the red shorts is because the home and away shorts are white. It is tradition in Turkey for a colour top with white shorts at home and a white away kit. Uefa rules on colour clashing are different to the league rules so different colour shorts are needed but you cannot release new shorts on there own.
