French Shirt for WC 2010 Qualification

Posted on July 30th, 2008 in France by luckyliam10

A new French shirt has been released for the 2010 World Cup Qualifying campaign. The shirt has been designed by Adidas and features a much different look to French shirts from the last 10 years.

The shirt is sky and navy blue in colour it has a traditional collar with a V-Shape neck both are white. The shoulders & sleeves of the shirt are navy in colour and feature the Adidas stripes. The center of the chest has the shirt-makers logo with the national logo on the left side of the chest.

The main design of the shirt is a horizontal stripe effect (navy in colour) which gets wider stripes as it goes down the shirt which results in a thin line of sky blue at the bottom of the shirt.

France crashes out of the Euro and they need to release a new shirt less than a year after unveiling their latest ones? Ridiculous.

  2. 81Ross said,

Yet another rip-off: the current shirt has been in use for less than a year.

  3. George said,

Yes lads, but still its quite a tasty design, thats why england need adidas or nike (not to rip off fans, to make nice kits)

    looks like a polo shirt

  5. Augustus said,

Adidas get their own back for the French federation going with Nike. Hideous.

  6. Kris said,

It looks like a cross between a Chelsea polo shirt and a Rugby shirt…

  7. toothy said,

hmm - why does it say that the main feature is the ‘vertical stripe effect’ when the stripes are clearly horizontal!

  8. Lee said,

Everyone is complaining about it being released not even a year after the last one, keep in mind this kit is for the 2010 World Cup, so more than likely wont be put on sale for at least another year or so.

And even if it is released soon, its up to the fans to buy it, there not being made to after all.

  9. Big Daz BWFC said,

Lee, it isn’t for the World Cup, it is for the World Cup Qualifiers which start in September this year so it will be released next month. I like it though and like you said, it’s upto the fans if they want to buy it or not!

  10. Jason said,

No, it says qualifiying campaign so its not necessarily for the world cup… infact highly unlikely. To be honest its a nice change but as others have said why so soon? at least it isn’t as busy as previous shirts…

Sometimes if you look up your shirt from the bottom where the labels of adidas are it will sometimes say when the shirt is to go out of date.

I read that this shirt is being released in celebration of the French Federation centenary.

i like it. france need 2 make big changes 2 their squad after euros. so while they are getting a new team why not get a new kit

  18. João Ramalho said,

Fantastic. I like very much this CASUAL STYLE trend. It gives more space for the clubs real tradition.

Wow! That caught me off guard but I like it. I don’t think it is that big a deal that they are already releasing a new design. The euro shirts weren’t all that special and looked like they had been thrown together last minute. If these are for the centennary then it is even more understandable.

Would be better if top dark blue stripe was red.

  24. danny said,

Its up to us well im not buying it i can tell you that i only just bought the one they used at euro 2008

  25. Oli said,

A brilliant kit, even if France don’t deserve it!

  26. David said,

Honeyman, you are right. That red stripe would look amazing! France dont deserve it? Oli, what national team do you support. Don’t tell me England or USA or I ill die laughing!!!! Cowards and Panzies? Yeah…right!

  27. JoseFco said,

I have read about this shirt, and it seems to be a fake, ilegal shirt.
    Besides, it’s pretty beautiful.

  28. greg said,

    Not fake. Not illegal.
If you check the websites, most retailers have had the Euro 2008 French shirt discounted on sale for the past few weeks, a usual sign there is a new shirt on the way.

The FFF contract with adidas ends after the world cup in 2010. This is clearly a nod to the past, a way for adidas to honour the French with a special jeresy.

  29. paddy mc said,

    it looks too fake

  30. Dickie said,

Top shirt. Very different and very unique. What do we reckon - a return to white shorts and red socks? Or stick with the current all blue theme? Personally i think white shorts and white socks would be spot on.

  31. lfcredsrule said,

it looks more like a rugby top

  32. marcos said,

well, no one in france talk about this shirt… i think it’s just a training shirt or French woman team.
French rugby team are in Nike

  33. filip sefo said,

it’s look like a some federer s shirt

  34. spurs boi said,

the wc2010 will be held in england hopefully due to the poorness of south african stadiums. I think the kit looks like a trainingshirt. no offence.

  35. gatto said,

It is beautiful, but fake i am afraid. The Adidas website still sells the old one as the current one… Is there a better source than the Adidas website?

The WC 2010 will not be held in England. If South Africa fails, then it will be Brazil.
England is a problem for Fifa, because the stadiums (or stadia?) belong to teams rather than city councils.

  36. rooui said,

Yep I really like this one. Actually, this is smart from Adidas, all the previous french shirts were too blue flashy and hard to wear in the street (I mean not very fashion). Here, they fade the colors (old school) and it’s pretty much like a rugby team polo.
By the way, where was your national team at the euro? That would be great if you could qualify for the WC 2010 (and France too of course). It’s not funny if there is no France-England game in a competition… specially when France wins at the end!

    French supporter (obviously!)
