It seems that games featuring some kind of Christmas scene have been getting plenty of goals lately. Werder Bremen replaced their usual diamond shaped club badge on the left chest of their shirts with a Christmas tree design for their game against Bayer 04 Leverkusen on Saturday, 15 December 2007. Werder won the game played at the Weser Stadium by five goals to two.

Whilst on the same day in England, Blackburn Rovers were hosted by Wigan Athletic at the JJB Stadium. Roque Santa Cruz Blackburn’s Paraguyan striker scored a hat trick and put on a Santa Claus hat as part of his goal celebrations, his treble wasn’t enough for Rovers as Wigan won 5-3 thanks to a hat-trick of his own from former Rovers striker Marcus Bent.
