Flybe considers terminating Southampton Sponsorship deal
Southampton FC are currently sponsored by Flybe howeverthe low-cost airline is deemed to be considering of terminating the £250,000 sponsorship for the next season.
Flybe are also angry that Southampton left it to find out about the suspension of Flybe’s shares through the pages of the Daily Echo. The company felt very poorly treated and felt that Southampton also left Flybe damages to their brand when their logo was shown at a press conference about the problems of Saints’ parent Southampton Leisure Holdings, which Flybe do not sponsor.
Flybe issued a statement concerning the issue:
“Flybe have loyally stood by Southampton FC over the past three years, despite relegation, boardroom and managerial upheaval, and like all Saints fans, we want only the best for the club.
“However, as the club’s primary sponsor, Flybe was very disappointed to have learnt from the media about the suspension of sharetrading in Southampton L e i s u r e Holdings Plc.
This, combined with the almost constant drip-drip of negative publicity, is frankly not conducive to a good working relationship, or the positive brand values Flybe has worked very hard to build in Southampton.”
Whether Southampton can find another sponsor at such economic crisis is yet uncertain and thus the club may find itself in deep financial troubles as its parent company Southampton Leisure Holdings have filed in for administrators and unless they find interested buyers, the company might close down in under four weeks.

As a Saints fan I wouldn’t blame Flybe one little bit. The club has been run into the ground by ego maniacs and fools.
All I have to say is:
God help Southampton! They definitely need it.
There could be a number of unsponsored shirts next season. Whilst such shirts look good, lets hope that no clubs fold as a result of the recession.
ha ha play up pompey
Flybe was barely diplomatic as they are surely frustrated about the boardroom antics at the club. Its a shame really, that two well supported teams from the south coast cannot enjoy top flight football at the same time. Maybe DRAPER TOOLS will be interested.
looks like exeter city
however much i hate saints (bournemouth fan) can help but think that if they are goin to get a points deduction, they should try and get it asap, casue it looks like ther goin down n e way and therfore a points deduction off this seasons points tally would be meaningless… wher as they could end up with -10 off next season when they start in league 1
