Everton 2009/10 kit outstrips records

Posted on June 30th, 2009 in Everton by reddevilrooney

The new home kit of Everton has become so popular with fans of the club that fans are flocking to the new club shop to purchase the shirt. The shirt has a retro outlook based on the kit worn in the mid-1980s when the club was very successful, winning the 1984/85 and 1986/87 First Division, the 1984 FA Cup, reaching the final of the 1984 League Cup, winning the Charity Shield between 1984 and 1987 (4 consecutive times), and triumphing in the 1985 European Cup Winners’ Cup.

The store of Everton has been refurbished as Kitbag have taken over the responsibility of supplying the merchandise for Toffees’ fans. The store was opened on Saturday 27th June and sales have shot upwards by 200% over the previous kit figures. Fans queued from 5am to lay their hands on the new Le Coq Sportif shirt. Another store will be opening soon in the city centre. Representative of Everton and Kitbag were evidently delighted with the response to the new home shirt.

Ray Evans – Managing Director of Kitbag

“We had a steady queue of people stretching 200 to 300 yards for over five hours on Saturday and we broke all records for Everton retail.”

“I am delighted to say that we were up almost 200 per cent on first day sales of any previous new kits -  20 per cent over target sales for the whole day, which is incredibly rewarding for everybody involved both at Kitbag and at Everton.”

Chris Bailes – Kitbag retail operations manager for Everton

“I have seen nothing like it before in all my years of football retailing. The fans have really taken to the new kit in an unprecedented way.”

Robert Elstone – Everton CEO

“This is just reward for all the hard work that has been put in by Kitbag and our marketing support team over the past few months. We have done really well in totally refurbishing the store in just 26 days and opening it with such aplomb.”

“I am delighted the new kit has gone down so well with our fans and our sales figures are testimony to this.”

more Giro’s burned at the Toffees shop in one day than ever before!! only joking, that is a class kit, i’m so jealous we have such a c**p top compared. grew up watching the old white V Everton kit. has lots of memories of my early years of football. Well done with this effort

don’t like the kit but apparently it’s something special for the Everton fans :-)

Why? It’s ugly. It looks like someone stretched the neck down on a v-neck shirt with a white t-shirt under.

I know plenty of Evertonians and not one of them has been positive about the new kit. In fact, they all hated it when it came out.

Also, I’ve been to Goodison a fair few times and I know that’s not their new shop at all. It’s just the refurbed one near the stadium. The new shop is at Liverpool 1 (address: Everton 2, Liverpool 1 – you see what they did there?!)

if evertons shop in liverpool 1 is called ‘everton 2, liverpool 1′ then does that mean the 1 at goodison is called ‘everton 1, liverpool 4′? because its in the L4 postcode?

this kit is definetely something different and that’s what the majority of people here are crying out for most of the time. apart from that, i quite like it. looks somewhat stylish albeit in an alternative sense. yes, the v-neck is very deep but that makes it that little more special/unique imho.

Phil, a shirt being worse than the new England shirt is hardly a rare thing, England’s shirt is ace: it has a touch of class. Everton’s shirt is a lot better than the umbro efforts and the anthem jacket to go with it is immense.

awful kit for an awful club what else can you really expect

If you were born after 1984, you would consider it shocking. Its not a bad shirt, its just an uninspiring copy of an 80’s design.

I’m not even an Everton fan, but waiting for that long in that queue, these are proper f***ing supporters.

This new shirt was so close to being perfect, but by making that white v so deep, and putting those weird seams across the chest, they somehow conspired to b*ll*cks it up

  21. sporran said,

Haha, do you think they designed it to be symmetrical with Joleon Lescott’s hairstyle
