T Shirts: “El Nino 9″
To say Fernando Torres has taken to the Premier league like a ‘duck to water’ would be an understatement. He has undoubtedly been the Kop’s star man this season and his lit up many a stadium with his magic. He signed for Liverpool on July 4, 2007 becoming their record signing for £26m. He had spent his previous twelve years at boyhood club Athletico Madrid.
He made his competitive debut for the Red’s in a 2-1 victory at Villa Park. A week later he netted on his Anfield debut in a 1-1 draw with Chelsea. “El Nino” has an eye for goal not seen on Merseyside since Michael Owen left. His pace is phenomenal and he has an excellent footballing brain which not only benefits him, but his team also.
For the early part of the season Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez would rotate the side on an almost weekly basis. Results were not going to plan, Liverpool fell behind in the title race and suffered an FA Cup defeat at home to lowly Barnsley of the Championship.
The rotation policy was then seemingly abandoned and Dirk Kuyt was deemed Torres’ preferred strike partner. Torres built up a formidable partnership with midfield general Steven Gerrard and on March 5, 2008 he became the first player since Jackie Balmer in 1946 to score hat-tricks in successive home matches. This was the third hat-trick of the season for Torres who earlier netted a treble in a Carling Cup victory over Reading at the Madejski Stadium.
A spectacular individual goal against Inter Milan in the San Siro confirmed the Red’s place in the Champions League quarter final. It was in the second leg against Arsenal at Anfield that Torres scored his 5th Champions League goal of the season. This was his 29th goal in all competitions this season and surpasses Michael Owen’s highest goal record for the season.
In total Torres has made 42 appearances this season and scored 29 times.
He is the second highest scorer in the Premier League behind Christiano Ronaldo and few would begrudge him an award in the end of season honours.
He can turn a game in an instant and has a very exciting future ahead of him.

Not worth buying because they’re going to be no good. Maybe if they print them again after we get that 6th star next month.
trev, envy us hahahaha, in istanbul…we won it 5 times!
Those shirts are quite nice. Torres is by far one of the best strikers in the world (if not THE best) and has been a superb addition to ‘Pool this year. If they can get past my Blues in the Champions league next week, they could go and win the whole thing, especially because Torres is in excellent form right now, and has been all season. Good move by the team to make these shirts, they’re brilliant!
Barcelona will win the Champions League. 1-0 and 0-0 against ManU. 2-1 againts Chelsea in Moscow
Great Torres!… but we miss the letter “Ñ” in “el Niño”
