Eircom League of Ireland Shirts Part I

Posted on December 2nd, 2008 in Ireland, Northern Ireland by luckyliam10

We are approaching mid season in Europe and here at football-shirts.co.uk we thought now would be a great time to review shirts from the lesser known leagues. We are going to kick things off with a 4 part series on the Eircom League of Ireland spread over the website this month. If anyone wants us to review a league just post a comment and we will try our best to put it together.

We are kicking things of with Bohemian F.C. , Bray Wanderers and Cobh Ramblers.

Bohemian F.C.

Bohemian F.C. is one of the oldest clubs in the Republic of Ireland, having been formed in 1890. ‘The Gypsies’ were one of the clubs who helped establish the league back in 1921 and they have competed in the competition every season since.

The club retained amateur status until the 1960s and ever since turning semi-professional, and later fully professional, they have been one of Ireland’s leading clubs winning 10 league titles and 9 Cups claiming the title this season.

The shirts for the 2008 season have been designed by Umbro. The home shirt features a red and black vertical stripe design with black sleeves. The shirt has trimmings on the shoulders, underarms and sleeves which are all white in colour. The club logo is in the traditional position with the Umbro’s logo appearing in its new position.

The away shirt for the 2008 season is yellow in colour it features a blue trimming from the back of the collar across the shoulders and down the side of the shirt. It features the club logo in the center of the chest with the shirt-maker logo on the top right of the chest and the right sleeve.

The third shirt for the 2008 season is white in colour. It features a similar design to the away shirt with a round neck and shoulder and side trimmings. The trimmings are black in colour with a touch of red on the shoulders. The logo’s are positioned the same as the away shirt with the sponsors appearing in black this time.

Bray Wanderers

Bray Wanderers were one of six clubs elected to the league in 1985 to compete in the newly-formed First Division. The Wicklow club got their league career off to the best possible start, winning the inaugural First Division and gaining promotion to the top flight at the first time of asking.

The club has since won the First Division on two other occasions, while their best finish in the Premier Division was their 4th place finish in 2000-01 they have also won 2 FAI Cups in 1990 and 2000.

The home shirt for the 2008 season features a vertical striped design which is green and white in colour. It has been sponsored by Rehab Bingo which has it’s logo in the middle of the shirt. The club logo is located under the neck in a central position. Other features include black trimmings on the sides and a round neck.

The away shirt for the 2008 season was difficult to source. It is white in colour with the club sponsor Rehab Bingo on the front. It features black slashes as a design on the shoulders along with a logo on the sleeve.

Cobh Ramblers

Cobh Ramblers were one of six clubs elected to the League of Ireland in 1985 to take part in the new First Division. They have since spent three seasons in the Premier Division of the league, although they have been rather unfortunate to have narrowly missed out on promotion on a further six occasions.

Cobh Ramblers won their first ever Eircom League of Ireland silverware in November 2007 when they secured the First Division title.

Cobh Ramblers home shirt for the 2008 season has been designed by Uhlsport and is clarinet in colour. It features light blue trimmings from the shoulders down the sleeves and down the sides of the shirt. It has a V-Shaped neck which is also blue with ideal logo positioning.

The away shirt for the 2008 season is light blue in colour. It features a round neck and a arched design. The arched design starts at the base of the shirt on both sides it runs up the sides and then across the shirt while also featuring on the sleeves. The club logo has been thrown out of position appearing lower than usual but the shirt-maker logo stays in a nice post.

The concludes Part 1 of the EircomLeague of Ireland. Parts 2,3 and 4 will be online this month.

The yellow shirt (the second from the top) is a total rip off from Swedens shirt.

    Swede,

It is not a rip off. It is made by Umbro and just so happens to be another bland Umbro top in a yellow colour!
