Egypt shirt for African Cup of Nations 2010

Most shirts of African nations for the upcoming African Cup of Nations, which will kick off on the 10th January and run until the 31st January, are being leaked at the moment. The draw for this event is expected to take place on the 30th November 2009, and the Cup will be hosted by Angola, and played in four stadiums. Egypt have not yet qualified for the event but they are favourites to qualify. The qualification system uses the World Cup qualifiers for qualification to the African Cup of Nations. At the time of this article, the team is ranking second behind Algeria in the qualification Group C, with 2 games left: against Zambia in October, and a potential decider against Algeria in November. Egypt hold many records in the African Nations Cup being the team to have won the Championship the most times (6 times), one of two teams to have made the most appearances in the Final (7 times, alongside Ghana), the team to ave made most appearance in the competition (21 times), and the team to have independently hosted the most editions of the Cup (4 times).They are also the current holders of the Cup as they beat Cameroon in 2008.

Puma and the Egyptian Football Association have agreed on the design of the new shirt to be used for the possible matches in the African Cup and the World Cup. These haven’t been officially unveiled yet, but will be in the coming weeks. The team crest has 6 white stars on top of it to commemorate the wins in the African Cup. These have also been included as faded stars on the right sleeve of the new Puma shirt. The shirt has a red colour with the right sleeve and shoulder being a darker shade of red. The sleeves have black edges and so does the inside of the red collar.
