Colchester United wore a special shirt for their first home game of the 2007/08 season. The kit which becomes the The U’s clash shirt for the rest of the season for games away from Layer Road where Colchester’s away shirt is too similar to the opponents, celebrates the club’s last year at the ground which has been their home since 1937. The v-neck collared sky blue kit, that has white sections on the sleeves and a gold trim on the arms has special embroidery beneath the club badge of “1937-2007″.

Smart Energy extended their sponsorship deal with the club for the 07/08 Coca-Cola Football League Championship season and have their name on Colchester’s kit away again, which is a red shirt with navy blue aspects to it.

The home shirt is blue and white stipes sponsored by Haart, United’s original club colours were a plain blue shirt worn with white shorts. One of the most famous faces to appear at Layer Rd is Teddy Sheringham and he can be seen wearing the club’s colours this season, after agreeing a deal at the club.
