Chivas Guadalajara Kit

For the 2007 Mexican season Chivas Guadalajara have switched from adidas as kit manufacturer to Reebok. The new shirts have a collar offset to the left hand side, the Rbk badge on the right chest and the club crest on the right chest. The shirts have Mexican bread company Bimbo’s logo in the centre of them as main shirt sponsors.

The home shirt is the club’s traditional red and white striped design, with large blue panels on the sleeves and red over the shoulders. The vertical stripes are slightly twisted and curve into a thick red section at the bottom of the shirt giving it a modern feel. The away shirt is more basic with it being mainly white with yellow sections coming from the collar and down the sleeves. The long sleeved version of the shirt feature wholes at the end of the sleeves for players to put their thumbs through in an effort to keep players warmer.

If I’m not mistaken Reebok has been making the Chivas Guadalajara kits… I think you’re getting them confused with the Chivas USA team in the MLS. They’re Adidas (along with every other MLS team) because of the MLS licensing agreement.

I’ve seen the away kits in action. The numbers on the back are offset to the right; basically going up into the armpit. Very ugly.

Never been a fan of the thumb holes. Also, I think it’s funny that they are sponsored by Bimbo. I know it’s a bread company. But you’d think with all the big clubs wanting to go “international,” they’d check what the name on the front of their shirt means in English.

Looks like you are right Jeff, I had got the two confused when looking for the last manufacturer of their kit.
