MLS Chicago Fire has landed its first kit sponsor in the form of electronic retailer Best Buy, their kits will look the same in 2008 but will have Best Buy on the stripe across the front rather than Chicago or Fire as it was in 2007.

The three-year, multi-million dollar deal was announced on Tuesday afternoon, it is still one of only seven shirt sponsorship deals in Major League Soccer. The Fire kits should be on sale in March, when they kick off the regular season at Real Salt Lake on the 29th.

C.J. Brown the Chicago Fire & USA defender said of the kit deal:

“When I started with the Fire our sponsors were league sponsors. This is another big step in the right direction for the league and also for the Fire. You’re in good company when you have Best Buy in your corner.”

John Guppy Chicago Fire CEO and President said:

“This is another tremendous statement of what is happening around the league, this is a corporation, which saw the great things we have going on and wanted to be a part of that. This is the latest punctuation that shows our sport is growing at a rapid level.”
