Celtic Home shirt 08/09 leak
a leaked picture has been revealed of what seems to be the next Celtic home shirt made by Nke.
The shirt is Celtic’s traditional colours of Green and White hoops. The collar is all green with some gold piping around the back of it and there is also some green piping around the ends of the sleeves. The club’s badge is on the left of the shirt and the maker’s, Nike, have their logo on the right of the shirt in gold. The club’s sponsor, Carling, have their logo across the middle of the shirt.
The shirt isnt due to be officially released until some time in August.

The design cannot be changed much because it has to be green and white hoops no matter what so the shirt is tidy and classy enough.

And the reason it’s green and white hoops all the time is that it has been since the founding of the club and we as celtic fans would not stand for it if nike halfed our kit like barca’s new one.

Why would someone complain Celtic shirts are always hoops? That’s the design. It’s a classic, world famous shirt, as famous as Real’s all white or Milan’s red & black stripes. Saying “it’s hoops” is liking waiting for the Sun to come up and shouting “East..? AGAIN..?” They tampered with the hoops a few years back, when they didn’t go all the way round the shirt. The fans went berserk. Good for them. It’’s their club, not Nike’s, and certainly not some dimwit designer 5,000 miles away. If only Arsenal fought for their traditions.

as a rangers fan it pains me to say this is a beautiful shirt. why do rangers have umbro sponsors that looks tacky and nasty whereas celtic have great sponsors like nike. when im on holiday i can find celtic tops all over the world. nike shirts are easier to sell than umbro ones surprise surprise. does anyone know if rangers are getting new shirts for next season
I am a fan of the hoops but they have to do something different with it. I loved the hoops that was worn around the time of Cadete and Di Canio. It had Celtic FC faded into the green hoops. Bring back umbro asap!!
Thomo of Parkhead: Celtic didn’t actually play in hoops when they were founded, the original shirt was white with green sleeves and a shamrock crest. Vertical green-and-white stripes were also used before the hoops design.

bollocks i only bought the last home shirt 3 weeks ago and theyve changed it already,it is a nice shirt though,Artur Boruc is a king amoungst men.
Its ok but all the Celtic home shirts over the past 5 years have been efffectively the same, they need adidas or umbro to liven the shirt up a bit.

Great shirt. For those moaning about having last years shirt for just the one season it was the 40th Anniversary shirt of the Lisbon Lions. Though it’s a bummer forking out for 2 new shirts this season I must admit they’re both fantastic shirts. Should be great to see ‘Skippy’ donning this shirt with his new number ‘7′ on the back! ‘Mon the hoops!

Good shirt but all the shirts nowadays are made are designed by a guy on a computer, very rarely due you see a truely individual shirt. Something like last seasons Lisbon Lions tribute is a feature that should be on every shirt to make the clubs be individual!

Love this, it’s class but I would like a wee bit more variety in the hoops - how about going back to really tight hoops again a la 95? or 67? What about the new training tops with the really thin hoops? Would that be taking it too far for the home kit?

even though celtic did not start out with hoops at least it has gone on for 100 odd years with the exception of the 2003 design in which umbro the hoops for some weird reason. having hoops for over a century still is a very long tradition and will be like that for the rest of time. the shirt is beautiful. okay there is nothing changed much to the design but that is the point. the authenticity and tradition of the top is what makes it a wonder to wear. beautiful, well done nike. hope celtic stay with nike forever.
Beautiful shirt! Looks fantastic! I find it strange that people are slagging the “design”. Hoops are Hoops, but it’s the small things that make them better! Nike are by far the best Kit Supplier out there, easily better than Umbro and Adidas! I’ll be buying it, and wearing it with the pride and honour it deserves! God Bless The Celtic!

This top is great. We have to keep the hoops as it is our tradition. Yes, we could have changed it a little bit from last season but it is still very unique to every other club in the world. This is a champions shirt and champions we shall be again in 2009. Four in a row here we come.
Amazing shirt! Similar to last seasons but with subtle differences which make it yet another work of art from Nike. We haven’t had a bad shirt since we have been with Nike,so why change back to umbro or go with Adidas!?!?!?! Did you not see what adidas did to Liverpool’s shirt last season with that floppy collar? It looked stupid! And how can any hun/man utd fan say it’s not original? All blue/ all red? Is that original?
Hopefully Celtic will always keep this iconic shirt design,for I never want to shout ‘mon the lines! or ‘mon the pin-stripes! It’s ‘mon the hoops! 4 in a row!

Why r people sayin its just the same? Celtic wear green and white hoops, thts their colours and design always. Its not asif theyr goin 2 hav purple and brown polkadots for a change.

I’d rather give the price of an ever-unchanging shirt directly to Celtic every two years than give Nike a penny.
One of the world’s great iconic football tops has no need to change…ever. Now we await the dire version of the top that has to be worn by the team in Europe…..huge numbers on the back, no doubt on a white panel that almost covers the entire back…… result…where are the hoops?
I’m for Green and White hoops, club crest, no logos or adverts and shorts numbered 1 to 11. Yellow or gold flashes and ridiculous squad numberings are also abominations to be avoided on the top.
I do like the gauge of the hoops on this one but I don’t think Nike have ever quite achieved an absolutely accurate, traditional shade of green as yet.

Hoops have not been around since the club was formed they’ve been around since 1903. Anyway, nice kit not a fan of the celtic badge being on a green hoop but it will do.
Nice shirt. Another masterpiece by nike - simple, love the touch of yellow, even the sponsor looks well placed. How did nike ruin the Barc shirt? Barca have worn halved shirts throughout their history, as long as it’s the Catalan flag - it could be pinstripes or poka - dots for all I care. Ok, maybe not the dots.
