Catalonia 2009/11 Home Kit by Astore
The Catalonia national football federation has presented the new shirt that it will be using in the remainder of 2009, until 2011. The shirt is supplied by Astore, which has signed a deal with the football federation to supply them with kits for the next four years. Catalonia is a region in Spain and the federation is not affiliated to UEFA or FIFA and hence does not participate in competitive international tournaments. The players of the Catalonian squad are eligible to play for Spain. Some of the notable players who participated in the squad’s last friendly against Colombia in December of 2008 were Barcelona players Victor Valdez, Gerard Pique, Carlos Puyol and Bojan Krkic. The Catalonians have an organised friendly with Argentina on the 22nd December.
The new home shirt is white with a long buttoned-up black collar, and black sleeves. The shirt has yellow and red stripes on the shoulders, and a stripe in the same colours running vertically down the left side of the shirt where the crest of the Federation is positioned. The shirt will be complemented by black shorts and black socks. New coach Johan Cruyff, an ex-player, or rather legend, who played for Barcelona takes over the team for the match against Argentina where the players will wear this kit for the first time.
It’s quite nice.

Just in case you weren’t aware, the Catelonian flag is yellow and red stripes like this, so more that than copying adidas.

Oohh being catalan it’s a great surprise seeing this post here! Let’s be real, our shirt is horrible, but it’s actually a retro shirt, when our national team played almost illegal friendlies because of spanish opression. Our last Puma shirts were much better than this, but still we hope some day we’ll make it to play in international competitions!
We have great players and in some sports (hockey, bowling, golf, P&P, 5 a side football…) we have international recognition so we play world cups.
Some spanish don’t like this but I’ve to say CATALONIA IS NOT SPAIN!
