Cardiff through to FA Cup Final

Cardiff are through to the FA Cup Final after beating Championship side Barnsley in the Semi-Final tie. City have enjoyed a solid season this year in the Football League Championship, in the most part hovering mid table and they currently sit five points adrift of 6th spot, with only a marginal chance of making the playoffs. However the Welsh club’s relatively decent season in the league has been completely overshadowed by their phenomenal efforts in the FA Cup.

Cardiff City’s last FA Cup appearance was 81 years ago against Arsenal when they emerged victorious by beating them 1-0. This time round, they face Portsmouth. Portsmouth have had a very good season and they find themselves in sixth place in the EPL. On the other hand, Cardiff find themselves in mid-table position in the Championship. Cardiff have it all to do against a very strong team and they can sneak a victory if they concentrate well on the match.

“It’s brilliant, I thought everyone played really well and we can go into the final with confidence and try to win it,” Ledley said.

Traveling to Wembley for an FA Cup final is definitely going to be a historic match for all Cardiff City fans and players.

In one of the most surprising ties ever to hit the FA Cup in recent years, Cardiff defeated Barnsley 1-0. An early Cardiff goal by Joe Ledley turned the tie in a very lively one as Barnsley had it all to do to earn something out of the match. Their best chance came when Odejayi - Barnsley’s hero against Chelsea, had all the time in the world to send the ball past the Enckelman but his shot flew past the upright. Both sides had some chances here and there in the match but it will surely be Barnsley that will rue their lost chances. Having beaten Liverpool and Chelsea in previous rounds, Barnsley looked to be a very strong side in the FA Cup but they could not resist any more against fellow Championship side Cardiff City.
