Cardiff City get new shirt sponsor for 2009/10

Posted on September 12th, 2009 in Cardiff City by reddevilrooney

Championship club Cardiff City have announced a new shirt sponsor for the 2009/10 season. The deal was struck with betting company 777ball.com and nets the club £250000 in revenue. The company is based in the Far East, and its logo will start to appear on the shirts of the Bluebirds immediately, as from Sunday’s clash with Nwecastle at the Cardiff City Stadium. The team ranked 7th in last season’s campaign, but after five matches into 2009/10, they sit in the 3rd position with 3 wins, a draw and a loss. The tie against yet-unbeaten Championship 2009/10 current leaders Newcastle could prove vital for Cardiff’s promotion aspirations.

The club’s fanbase is expanding in the Far East, and should continue to expand with this deal. Both parties were happy that the deal was finalised, and are positive in their outlook for the future of both entities:

Cardif City Spokesman
“This sponsorship deal, which includes a bonus structure, far outweighs the deals the club has enjoyed over recent seasons.”

777ball.com Spokesman
The sponsorship of Cardiff City FC represents a milestone for 777ball getting a foothold in the global market. The ambition of Cardiff City matches 777ball’s brand strategy and we believe the sponsorship deal can lead both parties to succeed.”
