Campeonato Brasileiro Série A Part II

Welcome to the second part of a 5 part series on the Brazilian Football League. The Eircom League of Ireland was featured last month and part one of the Brazilian league was featured earlier this month.

The teams featuring in part II will include:  Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas, Sport Club Corinthians Paulista, Coritiba Foot Ball Club and Cruzeiro Esporte Clube.

Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas

Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas or Botafogo as it is commonly known was created in 1904 as a multi-sports club. The club has won 18 Rio de Janerio State Championships and only 1 Brazilian Championship in 1995.

Botafogo has also had plenty of success on the international stage most notably the Copa CONMEBOL (now called Copa Sudamericana) in 1993.

Botafogo’s home shirt for the 2008 season has been created by Kappa and features a black and white striped design. The shirt has a v-shaped neck and has traditional logo positioning.

Botafogo’s away shirt for 2008 is white in colour and has also been designed by Kappa. The shirt features the club logo on the left hand side of the chest with the shirt-makers logo on the right hand side of the chest. The club sponsor Liquigas is found in the middle of the shirt in green.

The third shirt for the 2008 season is black in colour. It features the same design as the away shirt with the sponsor appearing white and the shirt-maker logo appearing in a gold colour.

Sport Club Corinthians Paulista

Sport Club Corinthians Paulista known simply as Corinthians was created in 1910 as a multi-sports club. The club is one of the most successful on the national stage having 4 Brazilian Championships and 2 Brazilian Cups.

Corinthians has also done well on the state and international stages winning 25 São Paulo State Championship and the FIFA Club World Championship(now known as the FIFA Club World Cup) in 2000.

Corinthians home shirt for this season is white in colour and has been designed by Nike. It features a pin stripe design on the body and sleeves of the shirt which appear black in colour just like the V-shaped neck. The club and shirt-maker logo are in the traditional locations and the shirt sponsor fits in nicely in the centre of the shirt.

The away shirt for the 2008 season is black in colour and has been designed by Nike. The shirt features the same pin striped design as the home shirt which are very faint to the eye on the away version.

Corinthians third shirt for 2008 is purple in colour and features a traditional collar. It has gold sleeve ends, shirt-maker logo and sponsor with the club logo having a black outline.

Coritiba Foot Ball Club

Coritiba Foot Ball Club referred to as Coritiba was created in 1909. The club has won a single Brazilian Championship in 1985 and 33 Campeonato Paranaense State Championships.

The club won the Serie B title in 2007 and made a strong run back into the top tier of Brazilian football finishing 9th in 2008.

Coritiba’s home shirt for 2008 is white in colour and has been designed by Lotto. The shirt has a V-shaped neck and features a green horizontal design in the middle of the shirt around the club logo. The shirt sponsor is found below the central design with the shirt-maker logo above the central design. The sleeves of the shirt are white with a sponsor and feature a green pipeline design.

The away shirt for 2008 features a vertical striped design which is green and white in colour. It has a round neck and features traditional logo positioning with the main sponsor appearing in a white box.

Coritiba’sthird shirt for 2008 features the same design as the home shirt with the white base being changed to a black base colour. All the sponsor logo’s have been changed to white to match on the black shirt.

Cruzeiro Esporte Clube

Cruzeiro Esporte Clube was created in 1921. The club has a collection of titles on state, national and international level but has only won a single Brazilian Championship in 2003.

Cruzeiro as they like to be called has 7 international titles most notably 2 Copa Libertadores and 35 Campeonato Mineiro State Championships.

Cruzerio’shome shirt for 2008 is blue in colour and has been designed by Puma. The shirt features a round neck and white features on the sleeves and sides of the shirt. The club logo is found on the left hand side of the chest with the shirt-maker logo on the right hand side of the chest. The sponsor is found in the middle of the shirt in white.

The away shirt for the 2008 season is white in colour and has also been designed by Puma. The shirt features a traditional collar which is blue in colour along with the sleeve designs and sides of the shirt. The logo’s appear in the same positions as the home shirt with the sponsor appearing in red.

Cruzerio’sthird shirt for the 2008 season is light blue in colour. The shirt has the same sleeve and sidedesigns as the home and away shirts and it features a round neck. The club logo is found in the middle of the chest with the shirt-maker logo on the right shoulder. The shirt sponsor is found in the middle of the shirt in white.

    Corinthians will have a new sponsor this year, hopefully without that white box on the away shirt. The stripes aren’t white.
    In the 3rd shirt the sleeves ends are golden not white.

    yes, Botafogo’s away shirt showned in here is a training jersey and it’s not from 2008 kit, they’re using it since this january. their away shirt is exactly the same of the third one, but totally white in colour; Corinthians purple shirt was used in 2008 season, during Serie B, but there are no informations about its production or if they’ll efectivate it as their third shirt for this 2009 season and; Cruzeiro has, now, Reebok as their manufacturer and the shirts which will be used in this season haven’t being presented yet.

    The white box in the Corinthians’ shirt is probably a demand of the sponsor.

    The logo of the sponsor is acctually in green, but since the arch-rivel of Corinthians, Palmeiras, wears green, the sponsor logo had to be changed to black.
