1950s Busby Babes Manchester United Kit
On the sixth of February 2008 it is 50 years since the Munich Air Disaster which killed eight members of the famed Manchester United team the Busby Babes on their way home from a match against Red Star Belgrade in 1958. The club’s closest match to that day is the fixture against Manchester City on February 10th at Old Trafford.
Busby Babes 50’s Kit
To mark the occasion, United will wear a special kit, which will be free from sponsorship and numbered traditionally 1 to 11. This 1950s style Busby Babe’s kit will be a one-off and will not be available for purchase of fans.

United had to obtain special permission from the Premier League and the club’s sponsors Nike and AIG to wear the plain red jerseys and baggy shorts for the match.
Those looking for a similar shirt to wear themselves should look at the retro 1958 FA Cup final shirt made by TOFFS to commemorate the clubs FA Cup final appearance against Bolton that year.
Does anyone know the last time a team played in the Premier League wearing numbers 1 though 11 ?

wel done lads on the win over derby and its good that the club is leading the way with tributes
brill way to rememba the busby babes
If this does happen, I would love for Man. City to go with retro jersey’s as well.
I’d like Rio Ferdinand to play like Duncan Edwards for England ie with a bit of pride and passion and not worrying about his Bentley and his diamond encrusted Rolex watch
i can rememba that match it was great but i can also rememba the plane crash lets hope they can play like the busby babes did on febuary 10th
you would write ‘remember’ correctly if you’re old enough to have been around for the plane crash
I suspect they have never had 1-11 in the Prem, even back in their first game in Aug 1992 squad players like Darren Ferguson started.
what about any other teams have they had 1 to 11 ?
[...] have already discussed how Manchester United will be wearing old style shirts and shorts without sponsor logos and numbers as a mark of respect to the Busby babes. We can now confirm that Manchester City’s shirts on [...]
in the first season of the premiership, squad numbers didn’t exist, so Andrew Rockall’s comment is incorrect. it would be the last game of the premiership season 02/03, if not then sooner…. I know Man U have come pretty close on occasions to doing it, even in recent seasons
shut the google up mutter fucka
does anyone know wot kit going to look like for match against city
The match was great. United didnt win and there was a lot of fouling on citys part but i am a true united fan and support them no matter what. it was a great way to remember the busby babes. so sad though
I recall Man.Utd starting a game in the 93/94 season with the players that were given squad numbers 1-11.
QPR started the first three games of the 95/96 with the players allocated numbers 1-11. I even think that the subs were the players with no’s 12, 14 and 15.
