Bristol City Goalkeeping Strips 08/09

Posted on August 11th, 2008 in Bristol City by swji

Although not conducting an official unveiling of the strips, pictures from Bristol City’s recent outings against Royal Antwerp and Blackpool have shed light on the goalkeeping strips that will be worn by Adriano Basso and Chris Weale this season.

The green kit was worn by Bristol City’s Number 1 Adriano Basso, in the 4-0 home friendly win against Royal Antwerp. The Home shirt is similar to previous Robins goalkeeping shirts - Green, with black trim. However, in addition the DAS logo, the badge placement is also different compared to the last couple of seasons’ offerings - this time being placed in the centre of the chest. The picture below, from the club’s official site, shows Basso wearing the kit as the teams walked out onto the pitch.

The change kit is an illuminous yellow with black trim, ala Chelsea’s much-maligned away kit from last season. The picture below shows Basso’s deputy, Chris Weale, wearing the new kit in their 1-0 win against Blackpool last Saturday. Weale came on as a substitute for City, replacing Basso at half time.

It’s funny - I really like the Green and black one, but I’m still not convinced of all this illuminous “highlighter” yellow malarky
