Botswana Home and Away Kits for 2012 African Cup of Nations

The national football team of Botswana will be participating in the 2012 African Cup of Nations. In fact they became the first team to qualify for the tournament after the two co-hosts of the competition namely Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. The team is currently ranked 95th in the latest FIFa rankings at the time of this article. It is the country’s first experience in a major competition as they had never before qualified for a World Cup or African Cup of Nations. Botswana was drawn in a tough group D comprising of Ghana, Mali, and Guinea.

The national team unveiled the kits to be used in the competition which will kick off on the 21st January 2012. The team has gone for a local manufacturer ahead of big sportswear manufacturers. The manufacturer is All Kasi. The nickname of the national team is zebras and they have unveiled a home shirt with the body texture of a zebra skin. The sleeves are black and the collar and sleeve hems are light-blue. The away shirt on the other hand has a stronger presence of white, with a slight black touch to the collar, sleeves and underarms. There are two light blue curved stripes on the body and one black curved stripe. Black shorts complement the home shirt, while white shorts with a black curved stripe and a light-blue curved stripe complement the away shirt.

    Very Nice! Go Botswana!!!!

  2. Kurt Cobain:

Well that’s nothing short of ridiculous…

  3. Johnnieboy:

    Luv the home shirt.

  4. Brian:

are these people stupid!!! what kind of self respecting nation would allow a team representing them to take the field wearing something as horrendous as this tripe!!?? for a first time qualifier you’d think their kits would be something special, but this is laughable, its cheap, ugly, second rate and fully deserving of the humongous amounts of scorn and ridicule that it will justifiably receive.

  5. Doctor's Your Uncle:

Wow Brian, lighten up. It’s just a football shirt, not your stepdad.

And I kind of like it, by the way.

  6. PSVfan:

Only a African nation can get away with it, and it’s nice. And maybe it’s ‘cheap’ because large brands don’t care

  7. Toni Huigan:

    good luck to Botswana!!!!!

  8. Gavin Lloyd-Hughes:

Where can you buy this superlative kit???? I wish Botswana BIG SUCCESS!!!!!

  9. Northernhorn:

I think they both look pretty good in a strange sort of way, sort of like that rugby top that had a cow splodge pattern on it.

  10. Bren333:

Have to say this kit actually makes me feel dizzy when I look at it. Maybe it will have the same effect on their opposition.

  11. Bren333:

Oh, hang on, is the black and white one the home kit? I thought it was the goalie kit. Mm.. well I like the colourways.

  12. Freddybobs:

    Man, that’s nasty.

  13. geha714:

Like them. Originality FTW! Good luck, Botswana.

  14. Damask:

Kinda cool in a weird way. I’ts actually refreshing to see an African team not wearing some combination of red yellow and green.

  15. DeanoB:

Like em both…but there aint much difference between home and away

  16. Sam:
