Premier League Blackburn Rovers have signed the Bonham Group to help them find a new shirt sponsor for next season. The club’s deal with Bet24 finishes at the end of the 2007/08 season and the Lancashire side are keen to sign an appropriate kit sponsor, as well as additional second tier sponsorship which will include signage around Ewood Park and hospitality packages.

Rovers seek brand for new shirt deal

Blackburn are insisting that they have appropriate brands representing the club, with global tv revenues increasing significantly in recent years, Rovers have become one of the world’s top sporting properties, playing in what is seen as the most popular league in the world.

CEO of the European operations for the Bonham Group, Paul Samuels said:

“We are currently carrying out an evaluation of the club to establish its true value in the marketplace and this will form the basis of negotiations with any future clients. We have a wealth of experience in the sporting arena and have secured naming and sponsorship rights for some of the biggest sporting organisations in the world, so we intend to draw on this to get an appropriate partnership for Blackburn.”

Head of Commercial and Marketing at Blackburn, Simon Williams said:

“The Bonham Group’s record is second to none in North America where it has secured more than £1 billion in sponsorship contracts and we feel its structured approach is the best way to progress. We have given them a brief to find a brand that is the ideal fit for the club. We are looking for a longer term relationship that gives excellent value in terms of exposure and activation.”

“Rovers have become one of the world’s top sporting properties….”! Have I missed something?

Alix, so true. If Rovers were such a great brand why have none of their last 4 sponsors lasted more than 2 years (Bet 24, Lonsdale, HSA & AMD). If sponsoring Rovers was so good these business would have continued the sponsorship.

Blackburn get more sponsers than any other team in the Premiership, more than Fulham by far, so when they first came up they had Time, then AMD, then HSA, then Lonsdale (why???) and now Bet 24. Why don’t they do a Liverpool and keep they same sponsor?

up until recently rovers were seen as a club that could be relegated so sponsors were reluctant to sign long term deals. now that rovers are an established premier league team, they wont have that problem anymore!
