Blackburn Home Goalkeeper Shirt
Blackburn Rovers is one of the Premier League clubs that had to undertake major changes to its setup this summer, in order to have a better chance of being in contention for the Premiership trophy. Last season, the team managed by Mark Hughes ranked in the 7th place in the table, and were unlucky to miss out on a place in Europe. Hughes left the club after an attractive bid from Thai-owned Manchester City, and this necessitated that the club starts looking for a replacement. This came in the form of lower-division successful ex-player manager Paul Ince, who is determined to prove doubters of his capabilities wrong. Another major change was the transfer of first-team keeper Brad Friedel to Aston Villa.
Ince replaced this goalie with much-criticised England keeper Paul Robinson, who did not form part of Juande Ramos’ plans at Tottenham for the coming seasons. Paul hopes that this move will improve his latest form, and make an impression on England manager Fabio Capello. He took the number 1 jersey and will form a crucial part of the line-up for Blackburn to better their domestic performance. In Paul Robinson’s unveiling, the Rovers launched their new home goalkeeper kit, which is seen in the picture above. It is manufactured by Umbro and sponsored by Crown Paints. The new long-sleeved shirt has a red base colour, with a silver collar, and with silver details on the shoulders, sleeves, sides and inside. It will only be used for home games, as the away kit of Blackburn is partly red.
