Beckham out of England squad

Posted on January 31st, 2008 in England by admin

David Beckham will not get his 100th cap for England against Switzerland on Wednesday for Fabio Capello’s first game in charge, the manager is thought to think Beckham was not match fit for the game. Capello will announce his provisional party at 3.30pm today.

This means you won’t be seeing Beckham in the new england away shirt which will be launched on Tuesday.

I understand why beckham is not in the squad but what I dont get is why Owen is in it! he hasnt scored for ages and there are other strikers that have been playin alot better like Ashton(west ham), Kitson(reading) and even though he played alot even defoe has scored a few goals when he has played. Another thing that gets me (even though Im a Villa fan) is why is Curtis Davies in the squad? He has played ok but not well enough for a call up
