Bayern Munich and Deutsche Telekom renew deal until 2013

German super-club Bayern Munich have announced that they have reached an agreement with their current shirt sponsor Deutsche Telekom to prolong their deal by a further 3 years. The firm is Europe’s leading telecommunications company and had a deal with the club expriring in 2010. The expiry date of the renewed deal is 2013 after the agreement. The general manager of Bayern, Uli Hoeness, said that the revenue rom this deal will be performance-related. It is estimated that Bayern would net a total of 25 million Euro per season: more than the deals secured by European super-clubs Manchester United and Liverpool.

Hoeness was full of praise for the new deal which makes him proud and happy to create a win-win situation for both parties. On the other hand, Christian Illek, board member and marketing director of T-Mobile stated that the deal was key to the company’s strategic goals, and said that Bayern are helping the company develop and implement future multimedia services. Should Bayern miss out on a European competition spot, the fee would be revised and reduced, but if the club lifts a major trophy, the revenue from this deal would shoot upwards.
