Barcelona: Ibrahimovic 9

Posted on July 27th, 2009 in Barcelona by reddevilrooney

The big-money summer spending continues and it is coming from Spain again. After Real Madrid’s intake paused until they sell some players to lower their squad size to 25, Barcelona spent 45 million Euros plus Cameroonian goal-machine Samuel Eto’o on Inter Milan player Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Surely Real were interested in this player, but in his first press conference as a Blaugrana player, Zlatan said that Barca were the only team for him, praising their players and style of play.

The Swedish star who has appeared for his country’s national team 56 times, scoring 21 goals, has been assigned the Number 9 shirt at Barcelona, previously worn by Samuel Eto’o which goes the other way to Inter. Also in the agreement is a loan period for Hleb at Italian Serie A Champions Inter, presently managed by Jose Mourinho. A huge demand for Ibrahimovic’s number 9 shirt is expected over the coming weeks as he is the biggest name to be purchased yet this summer.

Ibrahimovic is good, but not that good. I think Inter have got the better deal here.

    alright one and all

i read that the hleb transfer was to do with maxwell and not zlatan !
just to play devils advocate zlatan was worth every cent of the transfer , but dont mistake me noone should be worth that sort of money period

not him ronaldo or ribery !

but in light of everything relative

etoo seems to be overrated ! barca knew what they were doing by getting rid of him !

I even think Eto’o better than Zlaton.

Let me get this straight. Ibrahmovic never seemed to be bothered putting in a decent shift at a CL match yet he blamed (apparently everyone else at) Internazionale for their lack of success in Europe as a reason for leaving. Good luck to him but Barcelona will not be as patient.

zlatan can fake smile all he wants. his ego will never get over from being half the value of ronaldo.

i wonder if he will do well?

Everyone says hes not worth the money. Ronaldo is noth worth £80m. Robinho is not worth £32.5m, Benzema is not worth £30m, have I made my point? Football transfers are over inflated

  11. whowantstoknowmyname said,

by the way he is basically the second most expenisve player

ibrahimovic 40mil plus eto’o(eto’o is easily worth like 30 million)

70 million is the second highest transfer

  12. vivabarca said,

it costed 66 million i read somewhere

  13. FootballClub said,

According to Barcelona’s economic president, Eto’o worths 20 million. The catalans also paid 46 million, so the price is 66.

  14. Danny-SUFC said,

Inter must be laughing, they sell a sulky striker who has no work ethic and is sh** in the big games, and replace him with the best striker in the world and 40million. I think the deal is unbelievable, what a rip off!

  15. Freestone92 said,

I cant believe how well Inter have done out of this deal, like Danny says they must have tried to keep a straight face when the officials met to complete the signing.

  16. Gerro said,

Inter got a top deal! Eto’o has been the better of the two for years, especially in european competition. Throw in Hleb and £40m Inter fans must be estatic!

  17. Dan AVFC said,

i wanna see what inter do with the cash

  18. WeWonIt5Times said,

Samuel Eto’o is better than Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Simple.

Inter Have Got the best deal

  19. WeWonIt5Times said,

    Eto’o is worth more than 20million I

  20. danial. of IRAN said,

ibrahimovic like not goal shoot eto.o
    is not worth = eto.o + hleb + 40 milion

Are you guys kidding? Zlatan was one of the best striker in Europe this past year. He carried Inter on his shoulders and won them the Scudetto. Eto’o did the same for Barca but without him Barca would still have had a decent shot at the title, Inter wouldn’t.
I cant understand what you are on about, how is Zlatan’s lack of success in the big games not related to him playing in Inter and not Barca? Eto’o succeeds in the big games cuz he plays in Barcelona, and Zlatan and Inter fail cuz they play teams like Barcelona (Chelsea, Man U etc). Football these days are all business, Barca are not dumb enough to make the poor deal you all make it out to be… Zlatan will generate so much money for Barca in sales revenues only that you will be baffled and in the end I am more than certain it will pay-off. Also, Zlatan is in my opinion a better overall player than Eto’o even though Eto’o scores more goals. If you disagree with that then you have something against Zlatan as a person, not a footballer, cuz he’s pure magic ..

  22. JamesG said,

he is a good player, he just cant be bothered most of the time

  23. lobber said,

Miles, you’re right on the money. People are blind to the facts of how Zlatan got to be where he is. The guy has scored his way there, oft alone and unassisted – he got eagle vision, power and a natural flare for the game that simply cannot come with practice or coaching. Given the right team I think we will see beauty in the game the likes of which we haven’t seen in a while. La Liga should be happy, there is going to be huge profits from this single signing

  24. Miles said,

Who is laughing now? Who got the better deal? Zlatan just proved you and all those other haters wrong in a matter of a few games. Who misses Eto’o? Where is your precious Ronaldo? Inter is already facing a dreadful result in CL, without ‘Sulky Zlatan’ and with ‘the best striker in the world’, maybe their results weren’t his fault? Zlatan is top 5 in the world. He belongs in a team like Barca and at 27, the best is still to come. Bye bye naysayers.
