Aston Villa Supporters Site: www.avfcblog.com
Started in August 2005 by Damian Dugdale the site had evolved from Damien’s personal blog postings, which he spun off to create astonvilla.biz Recently the site has moved to avfcblog.com to better reflect what it is all about.
In December 2006 according to Alexa, astonvilla.biz was the most visited Aston Villa site aside from the official one. Using a good designed site and original opinion mixed in with some breaking news stories; like the recent deal for Nike to becoming the new kit Aston Villa manufacturer, the club denied it but avfcblog.com stuck with it and hey presto, it was announced.
The villa blog is all about content which is sometimes controversial and not everyone feels the same way. One of the first posts made was a petition to get O’Leary sacked and a lot of other Villa sites gave them stick for it, but they all came round in the end.
The site’s all time Aston Villa eleven is:
1. Nigel Spink
2. Paul McGrath
3. Allan Evans
4. Colin Gibson
5. Olof Mellberg
6. Gordon Cowans
7. Ian Taylor
8. Paul Merson
9. Tony Morley
10. Gary Shaw
11. Brian Little
