Airdrie United Home Shirt & Sponsor

Posted on July 16th, 2008 in Airdrie United by reddevilrooney

Airdrie United is a Scottish club which will be playing in the 2008/09 Scottish First Division, after ranking 2nd in the 2007/08 Second Division and thus gaining promotion. Airdrie United are a relatively young club, having been formed in 2002, but the results in the league have been nothing short of impressive. They managed to win the Second Division after just two seasons in business, in 2003/04.

To mark their new adventure in the First Division which will commence soon, Airdrie have unveiled the new home kit that they will be using for matches played at New Broomfield. The kit is manufactured by Surridge, and will be sponsored by St Andrew’s Hospice for this season. This hospice provides support to all Lanarkshire and thus has to cover a lot of expenses by doing fund-raising activities. Airdrie will be helping St Andrew’s Hospice in this good cause. Gillespie Investment Group paid the entire sponsorship fee as part of their commitment to the local community. The home shirt will be all white in a rather simple design. The collar will be partly red, and it will have a big red V on the body part extending from the shoulders. Surridge’s logo will appear on the right chest, while the sponsor’s logo will appear in blue in the centre.

from the size of the stadium in the background it looks like they a well supported club for newbies.
teams in the english league 2 dont have those many seats.

Its a 10,000 all seater stadium and get crownds of around 1,500 to 2,000 only if playing the a premier team get more.

Used to get more of a crowd when airdrieonians but when being reformed as united lost a lot of fans.

Why don’t the change their name “back” to Airdrieonians? They have the strip, and a percentage of the fan base and although they are technically six years old they are to all intents and purposes the direct descendant of the original club.

I love this kit. It’s the design Puma should give back to Bordeaux instead of the terrible shirts they have been producing for them recently. Good old Airdrie. Clubs like this are the heart and soul of football.

The article above is written as if Airdrieonians never existed. Bizarre.

Airdrie do not even hold the record attendance for their own stadium - it was set by St Mirren and Hamilton when they played there in the Bells Cup Final in 2005/06 season.

Airdrie United are nothing at all to do with Aidrieonians……Airdrie United were formed when they bought over Clydebank and changed the name to Airdrie United and the location of where they played. So name change would not be an option..
