New Flamengo third kit launched

Posted on March 26th, 2008 in Flamengo by KegAusSpurs

Brazilian giants Flamengo released their new third kit on Monday. It combines the familiar colour scheme of the club in a horizontally halved design, the top half being scarlet and the sleeves and bottom half black. The back of the shirt is all scarlet however, to ensure the legibility of the gold numbers. The kit is made by Nike and is characteristically simple, save for an interesting collar design. The shirt is modeled below by club captain Fabio Luciano, Marcinho, Toró and Christian.

Flamengo Third Shirt

The club was founded as a rowing club in 1895 and its full name, Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, translates into English as Flamengo Rowing Club. This shirt is an allusion to the club’s rowing roots and the fact that football is but one of many sports at the club. The badge on the shirt is the club’s rowing badge instead of the usual CRF insignia, topped with the star that usually accompanies the insignia.

A pointless kit. Why have a third kit the same colours as the home one?

    Brilliant… :(
