Adidas has doubled its sponsorship offer to €22 million a year and although the German football federation (DFB) has acknowledged a new offer they are holding out in the hope of signing with Nike. Nike have offered €500 million for an eight-year deal with another €100 million in other benefits as part of the US based sport’s companies push further into soccer.

The DFB claim their contract with Adidas only lasts till 2011, whilst Adidas believe it runs until 2014 after it was extended in 2006. Both are now consulting legal experts to clarify the situation.
