2009 New York Red Bulls Shirts
With the Major League Soccer 2008 now finished, and preparations for the 2009 tournament under way, it is the time when American and Canadian clubs start unveiling their new kits. The Major League Soccer will kick off on the 19th March and will run until November. It will be only the 14th season in this league’s history. It is divided into Western Conference and Eastern Conference, for the obvious reason to limit distances that have to be travelled by clubs. New York Red Bulls play in the Western Conference alongside Chicago Fire, Colombus Crew, Dc United, Kansas City Wizards, New England Revolution and Toronto FC (Canada).

In the 2008 MLS season, New York Red Bulls ranked 5th, with 39 points: winning 10, 9 draws and losing 11. Hence, they gained qualification for the MLS Cup playoff. They went through the semi-final and final of the conference, and were drawn against Easter Conference club Colombus Crew in the Final, losing 3-1 to become MLS Cup runners-up. The new shirt for the 2009 season will feature the same enlarged Red Bull logo on the centre. The home shirt is white, while the away shirt is navy blue. Unlike last season, the three stripes of Adidas will not be continuous on the sleeve, but will stop for the MLS badge and continue after it. The details and collar on the home shirt are red, while those on the away shirt are grey. The collar has a very eye-catching mandarin style. It makes use of Adidas ClimaCool fabric to wick perspiration and making the shirts well-aired.

They are cooooool!
This kit would indicate that RedBull are better bicyclists than footballers – maybe they’re looking to sign Lance Armstrong.
Horrible – a disappointment from adidas…
