Poland Home Shirt 2008/09

Posted on February 7th, 2008 in Poland by reddevilrooney

After being used by the absolute majority of teams in the African Nations’ Cup 2008, Puma looks set to feature in the European Championships as well. Puma is the manufacturer that designed the new home shirt for the Polish national team’s 2008/09 campaign. Alongside Poland, Puma also designed the shirts for Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Czech Republic, making it 5 out of the 16 teams in the tournament.

The Poland shirt consists of the traditional white and red shirt that resembles the Poland national flag. The background of the shirt is white and it has a red trim. It has a red Puma logo on each shoulder. The logos on the chest appear in this order from left to right (when worn)…first the Poland crest, in the centre the Puma logo, then the Poland Football Association logo. It’s a rather simple design, but one which follows the tradition of this country. It will be seen in some matches of the European Championship 2008. Poland was drawn in Group B with Austria (hosts), Croatia and Germany. This shirt will also feature in the qualifying stage for the 2010 World Cup, where Poland plays in Group 3 against Czech Republic, Slovenia, Slovakia, Northern Ireland and San Marino.

Too many pumas, Lotto shirts tend to be the worst with big red squares. I remember in the early 80s teams had to remove the Umbro diamonds from their sleeves. No gress like progress (not).
