Birmingham City Home 2007/08 ShirtThe Birmingham penguin shirt is back, in what is a retro style kit, the shirt has a thick white stripe down the middle of the kit with blue on the sides and on the sleeves. Umbro’s diamond styling appears in white over the shoulders. The new kit’s makers Umbro see their logo appear on the sleeves, whilst Brum’s club badge is in the middle of the shirt, just below the v-neck collar.

F&C Investment’s the new shirt sponsors of Birmingham City have their logo on the front of teh strip, they replace last season’s sponsors Flybe. The new sponsor logo is rather large when compared to the size of traditional english premier league football kits.

The new shirts were released to the general public around noon today on the club’s official website. The strip will be completed with white shorts and royal blue socks. Back in the 1970s a similar style shirt was produced by Umbro for the midlands team and the colour of Birmingham’s home shirt has gone back to the traditional royal blue.

Birmingham’s Shirt Sponsors

A three-year sponsorship deal has been made between the club and F&C Investments, who are one of the UK’s leading investment management companies, controlling over £100billion worth of funds. Head of retail distribution, John Yule said at the kit launch:

“We are delighted to be associated with Birmingham City. The club, with its strong presence in the community, loyal supporter base, teamwork and pursuit of excellence is an ideal fit with the values and aspirations of our company.

“Football is a great channel to increase our brand awareness. Birmingham City are a team who are clearly going places and so too is F&C.”

    i think tht ging bk to the traditionaal penguin kit will be very good as we r celebrating 100 years at st andrews and we need t go back to the prem with a bang n what way to do it then with a kit tht is completely different to ne uva kt in the prem cmon blues!!!!

    don’t have a sponsor…. what a good idea. Lose out on millions to have a slightly better looking kit.

    Umbro designed both so of course they look similar…. Look at Chelsea and Liverpool’s kit from this season.

    The best one though by miles….

    Work on your insults mate. A load of penguins… Show me a blue penguin. “back down below aston villa”… I assume you mean we are above you now? How else would we go back down below you?

    Its about time birmingham went back to the penguin design, it should have have been tighter fitting. Anybody who hates the design is probably under 20. Not up to premiership standards? give me break. There was football before the premiership mate.

    Birmingham’s 70s penguin style is a classic but this is poorly executed imo. Great idea, they’ve just not done justice to it. Still miles better than the plain blue though.
