Mitre Ipswich Shirt in 07/09
Town signed a four year deal a few months ago with Mitre for them to produce home & away club kits, training and bench wear until the end of the 2010/2011 season.
Mitre developed the new home shirt for the start of the 2007/8 season, taking fans opinions on board when offered the opportunity to choose their favourite from three designs via text voting and the club website.
The away shirt for 2007/08 will remain Punch branded (the clubs own brand) until 2008/09 when Mitre will release a new Ipswich Town away shirt.
Mitre established in 1817, has a strong footballing pedigree, but it has been seven years since they were involved in football shirt design and development
Three stars above the Ipswich badge
The first five thousand 07/09 Ipswich Town home shirts sold will have three stars above the club badge. FA rules mean that the shirt won’t be worn in domestic competition, but it could be used in any European fixtures.
Gary Hibbert, Brand Director at Mitre said:
“We are delighted to be re-entering the pro kit market, and particularly with a Club of the stature and heritage of Ipswich Town. Like us they were founded more than a hundred years ago and have a history that includes an FA Cup win, a UEFA Cup victory and a top five Premiership finish as well having been the proving ground for two England managers. We couldn’t ask for a better partner. We are totally committed to providing Ipswich Town and their supporters with the very best designs and the highest quality products.”
Ipswich Town’s Sales & Marketing Director, Andrew Goulborn said:
“we’re excited about entering a new era with Mitre. Mitre is renowned for the quality of its products and their experience in the design and manufacture of sports products is second to none. They’ve got a great team and we are very much looking forward to working with them over the next few years. I think that Ipswich Town fans will be impressed when they see the design and quality of the products that we plan to produce with Mitre”.
