Leighton Mitchell, Head of Retail at Southampton said:

“The yellow away kit has been selling very well and we hope the white away kit will also be popular with fans. This is the start of many new ranges being introduced to the stores for the forthcoming season.

As well as the new training range, which has been developed with the help of the playing and coaching staff, there are many new lines being delivered over the next few weeks including new ranges of menswear, ladieswear, children’s wear and many new fantastic gift ideas.

Hopefully there will be something to tempt every fan”.

Fans will be able to find out which of the two away kits the club will be wearing for each fixture away from St Mary’s shortly when a list is announced for the 07/08 fixtures by the club.

I can never understand why clubs with a stripy home shirt have an away shirt with one of the home colours on! Just have a different colour and only have 2 shirts!

I dont really like it when clubs produce their own shirts…we did it for a while before seeing sense. It looks cheep and tacky. I guess this is southampton though……a kit fit for THE CHAMPIONSHIP

Stuart. Personally I would rather clubs have 3 kits, and change the home every other season (like Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester Utd), than change home and away every year like (Everton, Boro, Villa etc). It’s the same number of kits on the market, but poor families can be up to date with just 1 shirt every 2 years. Alternatively there is always Spurs who have multiple numbers of new kits every year. Shameful.

    Wicked shirt

Couldn’t agree with you more D King. Unfortunately my club appear to be going down the route of bringing out three shirts per season. On the plus side our current kits are supposed to be the most technically advanced in the country!

It’s an okay shirt, I have just seen it in ‘real life’ and it’s alot better than it is in the picture…..that pic makes it look awful, but, the sleves are silver rather than a beige colour that is shown in the pic.

It hurts to say this as a Saints fan but PompeyPete is absolutely right - teams who produce their own shirts deserve all they get and fail to learn from history. Tacky, cheap looking park side kit style and doesn’t belong in the Prem, and therefore regrettably fits the current team down to the ground. That said the Pompey kits of the last couple of years haven’t set the world on fire either.

Im not talking about teams which change their kits every season, i completely agree that it is wrong. What i was saying if you read it correctly is that if a team has a Red and White stripe shirt, why have a white away shirt? If the team you are playing against wears white then you need a 3rd shirt so why not just have 1 away shirt that is completely different to the home colours!
