Euro 2008 Stadium in Basel, Switzerland
St Jakob Park stadium in Basel was officially opened on 31st March 2001, the stadium originally held 33,000 supporters but has recently been upgraded to host 42,500 fans ahead of the Euro 2008 championships. The stadium features a translucent outer layer which enables the stadium to luminate in several different colours and the St Jakob park complex also includes a shopping centre, restaurants and care facilities.
Euro 2008 co-hosts Switzerland will play all their group matches in the stadium, St Jakob Park will host the opening cermeony for Austria/Switzerland 2008 and will host a toal of six games throughout the tournament including, two quarter-finals and a semi-final.

Getting to St Jakob Park Stadion
Located about 3km from Basel city center you can take the train direct from Basel's main station to St Jakob's Park's own train station. On the bus take #37 from the main station or bus #36 from Badischer Bahnhof, on the tram take Tram #14 on the orange line from the city centre to get to the ground.
