Congo DR Football
Congo DR are in the CAF(Africa). The Congo DR has had alot of changes to its national football team over the years. It has been know as Belgium Congo, Congo DR, Zaire and then back to Congo DR.
Congo DR (Zaire at the time) was the first black african team to play at the world cup. It qualiflied for the 1974 world cup and got knocked out in the 1st stage, it played in its biggest ever defeat at this tournament losing 9-0 to Yugoslavia. Zaire withdrew from the 1978 world cup after qualifying. Although Congo DR has not performed well at world cups it has collected 2 African Nations Cups in its history(1968,1974) and has made 15 appearances in this tournament.
Congo DR's current home kit is a blue shirt with red shorts and socks and the away kit is full white. Congo DR's biggest win came against Zambia winning it 10-1. Congo play at the Stade des Martyrs it has a capacity of 80,000 but has been know to have had 100,000+ people for national football matches. The top scorer is Lomana LuaLua with 17 not taking previous Congo's into account.
